Spotify player isn't working

My internet was absolute garbage earlier today. I ended up rebooting my PC and things seem fine for now.
But Spotify is acting possessed. It’s not even an issue where a song won't play—it's just stuck displaying NaN:NaN right where the timestamps should be.

It glitched out once before, but it didn't show that weird NaN:NaN error back then. Last time, I just logged out and back in and that fixed it. Now? This thing is totally broken.

I did a little digging on YouTube, but it looks like most people are just dealing with songs failing to load. I can't find a single decent example of what to do when you get hit with this NaN:NaN nonsense.

So I tried fixing this thing using this video, but then I hit a wall when he mentions clicking on system 12. I’m running on a 32-bit system, so I just stopped right there.
I wasn't sure if I should even bother following the rest of the steps or if I was just wasting my time, so I called it quits.

Nowhere in that specific video does anyone mention some "System 12"—honestly, I have no idea where you heard or saw that—it’s clearly referring to the System32 folder.

It is common knowledge that you can block connections to certain web addresses or servers by messing with the hosts file, but the real question here is what—or rather, who—added that line to the file in the first place, assuming there even is an issue. Maybe you could try clearing your browser cookies and cache, or perhaps just see if you can access Spotify using a different browser...

If you still want to attempt whatever this video is suggesting, just follow the instructions step-by-step. It isn't particularly difficult, I suppose.

Look, everyone knows you can use the hosts file to block certain websites or servers from connecting. The real question is who—or what—added that line to your hosts file in the first place if there's actually an issue. Maybe try clearing your browser cookies and cache, or just try opening Spotify on a different browser and see if that works...

I actually fixed this before I even watched the video a few days ago. I just opened Spotify on Chrome and everything worked fine. 👍
