Dell Latitude, Windows 7, Intel HD Graphic 4000
The issue:
Every 10 to 20 minutes or so, the colors start bleeding together and looking completely washed out, and the screen occasionally flickers or blinks. It’s intermittent—it happens, then it goes away...
Everything looks fine under the Intel HD section in the Control panel, but there's an exclamation mark next to the Standard VGA graphics adapter. When I check the properties, it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)."
The laptop is fully up to date.

Can anyone help me figure this out?
Thanks

If it’s been a while since you last dusted out your laptop, there's a chance the graphics card is overheating.

The worst-case scenario—and I guess this is possible—is that the graphics card itself is failing and might just quit on you without warning. You'd probably need to take it to a pro—like a local repair shop or something—to run some diagnostics and be sure.

Unless you've got an actual Nvidia card tucked away in there—probably some old GT630 or something similar—alongside that integrated chip, you’re going to need to get those drivers installed first just to get the thing actually "running."
