Stomach ulcer help needed

Does anyone have experience with this? My mom has a stomach ulcer and the pain is constant. Can an ulcer actually turn into something malignant, like cancer or whatever? Should she get checked out by a doctor, or is adjusting her diet enough? It seems like no matter what she eats, she's in pain...

Don't sweat it too much, honestly, most of the time things don't turn out to be anything serious or malignant. You should definitely go ahead and get that checkup just to be safe, though, and I actually heard from a few people that eating plenty of beef is supposed to be really good for you. Cancer isn't the immediate worry if it's just a simple ulcer, but if it starts bleeding—like if the stomach lining perforates—that's a life-threatening situation. She definitely needs an endoscopy to check the extent of the damage. While they're at it, they should test for H. pylori; that bacteria is a common culprit behind ulcers and can lead to cancer if left untreated. Also, watch out for black, tarry stools—that's a major red flag for internal bleeding. She needs to get checked out by a doctor ASAP.

I'm making sure she gets checked out by the vet... until then, I'll be doing some digging online to figure out which foods to steer clear of and what's actually safe to give her...
