Jorgić totally swept the older Lebrun, and now we get to see the younger one take on Qiu.

The younger Lebrun played a much better match this time, though he just couldn't break through the European champion Qiu, who
is moving on to face Fan. It's worth noting that Qiu isn't your typical Chinese player who switched allegiances from China to another nation; instead,
he was actually born in Germany.
So far, the biggest surprise has been the Italian, Bobocica, but his run will likely hit a wall in the round of 16
since he's up against Harimoto. Meanwhile, the Dane Lind, facing the Korean Jang, has similarly slim
chances of advancing. The rest of the men's singles matchups are all top-tier:
Geraldo-Wang, Liang - Jorgić, Ma-Lim, and Lin Yih-Chun.

Looking at the women's side, the round of 16 pairings are also set, and there's even more dominance from Chinese and Asian players than
in the men's bracket. All five Chinese players are present, plus Han, who represents Germany, along with four Japanese players, two from South Korea, and Cheng
from Taiwan.

It’s such a shame Matej Pucar didn't get to capitalize on an opportunity like this to go head-to-head against a Fan
so I don't have much else to say, though I definitely had a feeling today my picks would be off since every single match
I tuned into was just a total blowout.
I was really hoping for a bit of an upset from the Chinese side, but nothing happened—just heavy dominance throughout, and
the only real surprise of the day was seeing Lind pull off a win against the Korean player, Jang.

The mixed doubles final features C. Wang/Sun vs Hayata/Harimoto, but finally today we
get to see that the Chinese players are actually being knocked out because they're facing each other: Chen x. vs Wang M.
and Ma Long vs Lin g.

Sun and Wang totally cruised through, defending their Houston title without breaking a sweat.

Harimoto and Liang are playing their tournament match right now, though I’m honestly puzzled why they aren't on the main show table.

The defending champ Wang Manyu just got knocked out by Chen; she seemed completely off her game today with
so many unforced errors.

That's such a weird call, seriously. Everyone knew right away this was going to be the match of the day.

It looks like we might end up with all four semifinalists coming from China, unless those Japanese players, Ito or Hayata, can pull off some kind of massive upset right now.

I just pulled up a foreign stream from Super Sport, and man, there is a massive difference when you listen to a commentator
who is actually following the match, even if they aren't a total expert.

Also, a major critique here: awarding the World Championships to places like Durban or Jari is why viewership continues to drop.

So, even though their teammates made things a little messy during the finals, the two main favorites didn't really run into any major roadblocks on their way to the title. Honestly, at no point did I feel like there was any doubt about who was actually going to take it home.

I honestly thought Wang might pull an upset against fan after those incredible saves during the fifth set, but
fan showed incredible mental toughness once again. There's no question that Sun has been the best
table tennis player in the world for the last two years.

It’s looking like fan and Sun have already secured their spots for the Olympics. The real drama will be the fight for those remaining slots during
the domestic qualifiers back home. Honestly, making it through that gauntlet might actually be tougher than winning a medal at the Games themselves.
Table tennis at the Olympics is easily one of the top three or four most intense competitions out there.
