Tethering issues - anyone else?

So, my ADSL is totally down right now... looks like some kind of issue with Comcast.
I'm trying to get some internet working by using my phone instead.
I've got an iPhone, which already has a built-in tethering app.
I set up a Wi-Fi hotspot and connected my PC to it, but nothing is loading. It just says "No Internet," even though it shows I'm actually connected to the Wi-Fi.

I also tried USB tethering—turned off the Wi-Fi and switched over to the cable. My computer recognizes the connection and even shows that little icon at the bottom like it's plugged into a LAN cable, but it still says there's no internet access.

I'm guessing the problem is somewhere in the phone itself... what can I do? I even tried downloading a different tethering app, but it's the exact same result.

So, does the mobile data actually behave on that phone? Like, once you kill the Wi-Fi connection, is the internet still working okay or what...

Check your phone settings and make sure your hotspot isn't password-protected.
Then, go over to your Windows taskbar, right-click that connection icon in the bottom right corner, and hit "Troubleshoot problems" to see what else it says.

It’s technically working, but my WiFi is basically useless because the broadband connection is totally dead 😁
The WiFi is Excluded.
Look, I can connect to the network just fine using the password I set on my phone, but nothing actually loads... like, zero internet access.
And it's doing the exact same thing when I try to tether via USB.

Ran a scan and it didn't pick up any errors, so I'm starting to think the issue isn't actually with my computer.
First one there is the network I set up on my phone, which connected just fine. The second one is the DSL connection that I can't seem to get onto now.

Does anyone know if there's anything else I can tweak on my phone? Like, where would those settings even be?

Did the phone take a tumble? Any visible damage? I'm wondering if you're looking at a hardware glitch here. Antennas can be finicky like that. I actually dealt with a total GPS failure once because my internal antenna got busted.

Try heading over to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates. See if there's an official system update waiting for you.
I’m running CyanogenMod on my device, though keep in mind that totally voids your warranty. It's pretty solid software, though!
