I was reading some rumors earlier about potential blockbuster moves coming down the pipeline, and it got me thinking about how much the landscape of professional sports has shifted over the last decade. It feels like every single offseason, there’s some massive, multi-team shakeup being floated that would completely upend the balance of power.
Back in the day, you’d build through the draft and wait for the pieces to click. Now, it feels like the whole thing is just one giant chess match of stars trying to find the perfect scenario to win immediately. It’s fun for the highlights, sure, but I sometimes wonder if it kills the soul of the game when a roster can just be "bought" or assembled via a massive trade package overnight.
Does anyone else feel like the concept of "loyalty" in major leagues has basically become a myth, or is this just the natural evolution of the business?
