Thoughts on this build?

If I actually manage to make some decent cash this month and finally offload my old junk, maybe I could stretch my budget enough to hit this number... so, I guess, does this look alright to you guys?

Man, how much is this EVGA SuperNOVA going for now? 😱 I remember when I picked one up back in 2013, it was only about $117 😵

EDIT: Just realized this one's modular, though I see there's a non-modular version starting at $133 and up

So this thing is both modular and 80+ bronze... I'm guessing yours isn't actually lower than that level...

I mean, right when they first dropped those EVGA units, I think they switched up their whole manufacturing process or something, and honestly, those power supplies were total garbage... then they released the v2 versions, and eventually the 80+ bronze ones. Back when they had the HX series, they were actually using EVGA components and they were top-tier; I used to run an HX1000 back in the day.

LOL, honestly everything after that first run of CX units (EVGA) is total junk—including that CX 430-M you're looking at right now. It’s basically pointless to call it "modular" when you end up using every single cable anyway... for that kind of cash, you can grab a much better EVGA SuperNOVA.

Yeah, I guess you're actually right about that...

Who cares about high-end power supplies when this build doesn't even pull 100W?....you could run this on any basic $67...65W CPU + 30W motherboard + 5W SSD = 100W total

What you actually need is 2x4GB of RAM running at the highest frequency the board supports (like 1866 or 2133 MHz). You need that because of the integrated graphics, and those absolutely crave dual-channel mode. It’ll squeeze out an extra 5-8 FPS, which is huge. Going from 26 FPS to 31 FPS makes it actually playable....that's the secret

Honestly, don't even bother with a case. It’s just one motherboard with everything mounted on it—SSD and power supply sitting right next to it...it'll fit on a desk just fine. Take that money you're saving and buy some high-quality memory instead...that's the smarter move
