Thoughts on this build?

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some feedback on this build and the peripherals I've picked out. My main goal is 1440p gaming.
I actually posted here about two months ago asking for suggestions—which were good, don't get me wrong—but I had to put my plans on ice. Back then, I was planning to just drop the cash upfront, but my financial situation has shifted a bit since then. Now, I’ll be paying for part of it in cash and financing the rest. My budget is sitting at 15 $0.00, though I could stretch to 15,500 if those extra $167 really make a noticeable difference in quality.

I also need to find some decent headphones in the 200-$100 range, but Amazon doesn't seem to carry anything in that sweet spot.

I don't really need a monitor bigger than 24", and honestly, I think this Dell is a killer choice. For a 1440p monitor at $667, I don't think you can beat it. Also, I want to go with something modern, so I'm aiming for an Alder Lake platform.

About the cooler—it doesn't explicitly say it supports LGA 1151. Is there any way to make it work, or am I going to have to swap it out?

Anyway, let me know what you guys think. Can I snag better parts for roughly the same money, or maybe find some cheaper alternatives if you think I'm overspending on things I don't actually need?

I'd probably go with a 27" 1440p monitor; everything might look a bit tiny on a 24". Then again, if you're sitting closer than about 35 inches away, a 27" could feel massive. I swapped the GTX 980 Ti for the Fury because $667 it’s cheaper, and honestly, being about 15% slower isn't a huge deal. It should still handle 1440p just fine.

That way, the extra cash goes toward a bigger screen, a better power supply, and slightly nicer peripherals—plus you still have some breathing room left over.
The i5 6500 is there since it's almost $67 cheaper, and with only a 100MHz difference, it's basically nothing.

EVGA units are currently on sale over at some of the retailers there

It’s better to have some extra breathing room if the budget isn't an issue

You might even consider looking at a Fractal Design Define S or an R4 series case

That's exactly the issue, and it's precisely why I said I don't need a bigger monitor. My room is cramped, and I'm sitting barely half a meter from the screen. That's why I was planning to sink less money into the display and dump more into the GPU, since my budget actually allows for it. Besides, I'm not really a fan of AMD 😬

Around here, nobody really has favorites; we just grab whatever makes the most sense for the budget 😬

I went with the ASRock Z790 Pro and a slightly better cooler because, I guess, some sources say ASRock might drop a BIOS update later this week that lets you overclock locked Alder Lake processors, if you ever feel like doing that.😉

Non-K chips are already seeing massive overclocking numbers Link (it's pretty wild)

I haven't seen anyone bragging about it on the US forums yet, but then again, there aren't exactly many people buying those specific processors right now.
If this trend keeps up, we're looking at a complete "WTF" moment for CPU architecture.

Yeah, they're targeting a few specific models, but I guess ASRock is planning to drop a new BIOS for all their Z790 boards soon, which should allow for overclocking on all 😉

It'll work, but you can also pick up some cheap EVGA 600W or 700W units over at Best Buy if you want to save some cash.

Your setup won't even hit 400 watts at most.
