So, I’ve got an idea—just a thought floating around in my head—and it's about this current thread titled "Donald Trump, President of the Beautiful Nation." I really think we should rename it to "Donald Trump, President of the Republic of America." Look, I get it, calling us the "Beautiful Nation" sounds great and all—really captures the spirit—but let's be real, it's just a poetic way of talking, right? It's not how things work on paper. We're talking about official titles here, the actual formal stuff.

I’m asking you to give this some thought. Maybe even toss it out to the rest of the community to see what they think? It feels like the title should actually match the weight of the office he holds—you know, keep it dignified and aligned with the actual, official name of our country. We shouldn't be getting too casual when we're discussing such a serious role.

Kamala Harris is the President of the United States—and honestly, out of respect for the office itself, the thread title should reflect that.

Look, if we were talking about a department headed by Secretary XY or the Biden administration, we'd show that same level of respect to the Office of the President, right?

Sure, we can get all patriotic and talk about our Beautiful Land in the posts, but the title needs to change just to respect the actual institution.☕

Frankly, this tendency for moderation to play games with thread titles is completely inappropriate—we aren't here to elect Miss USA, so there's no reason for such ridiculous titling. I’m also calling out the blatant double standard in how moderation handles gendered language; the title was temporarily sexist, yet nobody bothered to react.

In my book, the only correct way to list it would be "Kamala Harris, President of the United States of America."

So, there was zero issue with the headline Barack Obama, President of the Beautiful Land for at least six months—if not longer—before we tweaked it during the campaign to ensure all candidates were treated equally. Now, suddenly, this exact same format for a topic about President ??? is considered controversial.

If this title is now viewed as disrespectful to the office, then the thread regarding his predecessor was also disrespectful. I just don't recall anyone raising an eyebrow back then.

That said, since we aren't sitting in the editorial offices of The New York Times—the official record of the United States—I think I'll take the liberty of being a little less formal regarding the specific duties and institutional jargon.

On a side note, the President of the United States actually uses a hyphen in her last name. I'd suggest we all get on the same page there; we've spent far too much time arguing over hyphens and missing them.
