Threatening email

To whom it may concern,

I'm Henry Hernandez7, an account holder at Chase Bank living over in San Francisco at xxxx, and I just got slapped with a bill for some service I never even asked for—which, if you actually bother to look at your own records, you’d see that's clearly the case. Is it seriously necessary for me to show up at your branch just to ask why I was billed $34 under request number xxxxxx/xx, forcing me to humiliate your staff in front of everyone in god knows how many witnesses, or should I just bring a sledgehammer along to demolish the nearest branch instead?

I expect a response ASAP (it's Friday, so let's say by noon on Monday) confirming that I don't need to swing by and that I don't owe you a single damn cent.

Is there any chance the cops might show up at my door for this? If so, what did I actually break? And honestly, if they just haul me in and can't do anything about it anyway, I might as well just send this now, right?

Did you even bother calling them beforehand—you know, just to ask what the deal was?
I suspect they get emails like that every single day, and frankly, they probably just toss them in the trash without a second thought,
unless, of course, you actually show up with that moron in tow. In that case, they’ll likely use your email as evidence against you
in a criminal trial.

I didn't call because I was actually at their office about ten days ago, and they straight-up told me I wouldn't be getting anything from them. They lied.

The email is drafted and ready to go, so I'll just decide whether or not to hit send...

You could end up with the cops knocking on your door over a misdemeanor charge for making violent threats. It can even be classified as a death threat, which is how things spiral out of control into a legal nightmare you just don't need
Calling them might be an option, since it’s harder to prove—unless they happen to be recording the line, I suppose
I get that you're pissed, really I do, but this isn't worth it

I mean, I know the deal, but honestly, screw all of it—trying to go down there and play nice just isn't working. I already went through the whole motion thinking it was settled... now my refusal to play ball is going to land me with a legal seizure.

I feel like I need to go after them full tilt, but I'm stuck wondering where the line is before the cops start knocking on my door.

You should just head over there and tell that thief straight to his face exactly what you think of him, and if he wants to try and prove anything after that, let him try.

If I had actually sent an email—which I didn't, I just walked out, though I've got a feeling I'll be getting hit with more garnishments or payment notices soon—what kind of mess would the cops have made of me? Like, what specific charges would they even throw at my door?

Look, I didn't start this thread to debate the ethics of the email; I'm strictly looking at the legal fallout. If you don't have anything useful to contribute regarding the actual legality of it, maybe just skip the thread entirely.

Look, those KD threats might sound scary, but honestly, that whole scheme just isn't worth the headache. Even if you end up facing some kind of probation in court, the legal fees and court costs alone are going to dwarf whatever amount they’re trying to squeeze out of you on that bill.

Usually, I only see posts like this on Facebook where someone drops a comment and then just disappears forever, so I don't even get the chance to follow up with the same question.
