Hey
Starting this thread to see if I'm the only one dealing with this specific "issue"...
How do you guys unwind? Work, school, college, constant stress everywhere...😠
My problem is I'm perpetually wired and on edge... saw a doctor a few years back and she prescribed me Xanax and all that crap, but I'm not gonna screw myself up with that because... look, I'm only 20 and I just don't want to go down that road!👎
Anyone got advice on how to kill this constant nervousness and anxiety for no reason? Who do I even talk to? Therapy? A psychiatrist? Maybe meditation?🙄

Just as an example... back in middle school, whenever I had to speak in front of the class or whatever... I just couldn't do it... sweating, sweating, sweating, turning red, blah, blah... total nightmare... Now in similar spots, like during a college exam, I still get way too worked up and it (obviously has consequences—losing focus and failing exams)🤷....honestly, I'm like this everywhere, all the time......
Someone please give me some advice....☕☕☕☕

Jamie Reyes3 said:Hey there!
I’m starting this thread because I want to see if anyone else is dealing with this same "issue" that's been eating away at me lately...
How on earth do you all actually unwind? Between the grind of the job, the endless mountain of schoolwork, college exams, and the constant, unrelenting stress hitting us from every single direction... it’s exhausting. Seriously—how are you managing to keep your head above water without losing your mind?😠
My issue is that I’m constantly living in this state of perpetual tension—just wired and on edge all the time. I actually saw a doctor a few years back, and she tried to prescribe me those Xanax or whatever other junk they throw at you... but I am absolutely NOT going to mess around with that stuff. Why? Because I’m only 20 years old, for God's sake! I simply refuse to start relying on pills like that!👎
Does anyone out there have any actual advice on how to shake this constant, restless anxiety? It’s like this jittery, overexcited feeling that just won't quit—and the worst part is, I can't even point to a single reason why. It's just... there. Constant. Who am I even supposed to turn to for help here? Should I be looking into therapy? A psychiatrist? Or maybe some sort of meditation routine? I'm honestly at a bit of a loss.🙄

Just to give you an example... back in elementary school, whenever I was expected to speak up in class or make some kind of public statement—it just wouldn't happen. It was impossible. The sweating, the constant perspiration, the face turning bright red, all that nonsense... honestly, it was just nauseating. Fast forward to similar situations now—like when I have a big exam at college—and I still find myself getting way too worked up. It’s the same old story, and naturally, there are consequences—my concentration tanks and my grades suffer because of it.🤷I honestly don't even know anymore—it’s just how I am, everywhere and always...
Alright, I’m all ears—give me the details! What exactly are we looking at here? Don't just leave me hanging with a vague request; lay it all out on the table so I can actually provide some meaningful input. What's the situation?☕☕☕☕

Look, I’ll be the first to admit—I am an incredibly high-strung person. Honestly, between all the absolute garbage I’ve had to deal with throughout my life and just my natural temperament, I’m constantly on edge and perpetually irritable. It’s exhausting. Since you’re asking, I don’t exactly have some profound, life-altering wisdom to offer you, but if I had to give you a tip: try to practice some semblance of self-control when the temper starts flaring up. You’ll get better at managing it over time—it’s a skill, after all—but for right now, maybe steer clear of the heavy-duty stuff like Xanax. Instead, look into some herbal relaxation supplements or calming capsules. They might help take the edge off without making you feel like a zombie.

The only time I actually feel truly relaxed is during the summer when I’m out climbing and jumping into the water. Everything else is just pretending to be chill.
I love sipping some mint tea in the evening; it knocks me right out.
Oh, and nothing beats a solid massage to work out those painful muscle knots in my back.

If you’re looking to help with sleep, I’ve found that mixing together some lemon balm and St. John's Wort makes for a pretty solid tea blend, I guess. To really feel the effects, you probably need to be sipping on it at least twice a day for a while, too. It actually works 👍 Just, you know, please don't give up on it after just two days.

I guess I could probably point you toward a really solid therapist who could help you work through those insecurities and that tendency to blow things out of proportion, maybe? If you think you might be interested in looking into that, just let me know.

Idk... I'd probably try some of the stuff mentioned above first...
self-suggestion and those herbal remedies (teas, supplements) before even thinking about therapists or shrinks 😉 if I actually feel like I can't fix this without a pro (really hoping it doesn't come to that)
thanks for the advice so far...

thanks to everyone for the advice so far....

Apparently, things like yoga and Tai Chi are great for unwinding.
