I honestly didn't even know how to come up with a title for this... I just feel so incredibly low right now... just completely useless.
It feels like everything I touch in this life just falls apart. My whole existence feels like one big, continuous mess. There was a time when I truly believed that if I just worked hard enough, I could actually achieve my dreams and, you know, make something of myself...
But today? Today, the thing holding me back is this crushing feeling that I’m absolutely nothing... just a tiny, insignificant speck in the universe.
It's like all those simple, beautiful things that bring people joy are just out of my reach... family, friends, everything... they seem too good for someone like me.
I don't even have the energy to try anymore.
Sometimes this wave of hopelessness hits me so hard that I just want to crawl into a dark corner and hide from the world...
Even as I'm typing this out, the tears are just flowing... I feel so pathetic.
I find myself wondering if I'm secretly just looking for someone to pity me... why can't I just grit my teeth and fight through it like everyone else does?
I know life isn't easy for anyone else either...
But for me, the urge to just retreat and shut everyone out is overwhelming... is it normal for everyone to hit these lows sometimes?
I really don't know...
Please, don't start throwing advice at me... I'm not depressed, I'm not on any medication, nothing like that.
I just want to hear your stories... tell me about the times you felt deeply sad and felt like nobody in the world actually cared about you.

If I may offer a suggestion... You should check out "Parabola" by the band Microsoft. It touches on the idea that illusion is often just a more convincing version of reality. I truly believe that track will provide you with some much-needed perspective, both for what you're facing now and for whatever comes down the road.

You can suggest whatever you like... though I have to admit, I was never really a fan of Microsoft... ever since those old commercials
It’s just not my vibe
Beyond that, I took a look at the lyrics and listened to the track... it isn't exactly some soul-crushing agony that's tearing me apart right now or anything
I'm just feeling pretty down
And honestly, there's nothing anyone can do to help
I guess so

Music is just a temporary fix. If you want a remedy that actually works, you have to let time do its thing. Eventually, the parabola of life will swing back into the positive, and you won't feel this low anymore. Trust me on this one. 🙂

Is there a specific reason behind this sadness of yours?
In my house, my dad is battling an incurable and incredibly severe illness, so every single morning starts with the heavy realization that something is wrong... my entire world has been turned upside down.
What about you?
What is making you feel so low?
There has to be a reason, right?
Sending love.

I'm sad... Honestly, I'm more confused than anything right now, but it's all tied together... I just can't wrap my head around everything happening lately. Over the last few weeks, I've had falling outs with a bunch of friends I thought were actually there for me. It's just constant news, every single day, and then I get upset, get irritable, push people away, and end up feeling miserable... But it'll pass...

Of course Delilah will make it through... Like I've said before, life follows a parabolic curve; you’re up one moment and down the next. That applies to everything.

@ cosmicviper76, well, I think I have a pretty good idea why I'm feeling so down
Sometimes I just sit there and feel like screaming: this isn't the life I envisioned for myself. I don't want to walk this specific path, and I definitely don't want to be someone who just finishes some degree only to have a label slapped on them defining exactly who they are and what they do
Maybe I don't even want to be defined by labels at all...
And then there’s just so much more... those little trivial things that can weigh a person down...
I see other people struggling, people who are hurting, and I feel like there's nothing I can do to help... it makes me feel so helpless... so then I'll put on some melancholy song just to let my emotions out, but instead, a hundred more heavy thoughts just flood my mind... and before I know it, I'm sitting there crying like a little kid
I find myself wondering where the solution lies... until I realize that for certain things, there might actually be a small chance that everything will work out just fine
I'm not religious... I don't believe in God, and I don't feel the need to
Perhaps I just wish there were someone wise and level-headed out there who could set things right... instead of all these shady characters just looking to make a quick buck through scams
And I wonder if there's a better place out there for me, and so on...

I am so sorry about your father... I was in a very similar situation once myself... the most important thing right now is just being there for him and being his support system
The world is just the way it is... people suffer every single day, but I truly believe what matters are those moments when you're together... it's hard, but that's just life... hang in there 🙂

@Delilah_ honestly, I'm also feeling a bit blue because of "friends"... sometimes I worry that I'm just too naive and that I don't really grasp what's happening around me. People won't always tell you exactly what they're thinking😢, so maybe it's okay to just let things unfold naturally... some things eventually fall into place after enough time has passed

@William Nelson7 ... but what happens when your parabola is constantly trending downward??

That’s just impossible. Things can stay down for a while, sure, but they can't stay there forever. Better days are coming; they have to. We all need to lean into a bit more optimism and positive energy. Life is tough, no doubt about it, but it's also beautiful—provided you know how to spot the beauty surrounding you. It's always there, whether the market is up or the line is trending down.

Honestly, maybe I don't even want to be "defined" at all...
And then there's everything else... all those little, trivial things that just weigh on your soul...
I see other people struggling, people who are clearly hurting, and I feel completely paralyzed because I can't fix it for them. So, I'll put on some melancholy track to let the emotions out, but instead, it just triggers a landslide of a hundred more depressing thoughts... and before I know it, I'm sitting there crying like a toddler.

I am so sorry to hear about your father... I've found myself in a very similar spot before. Just remember that being his rock is what matters most right now.
The world is just the way it is... people suffer every single day, but I truly believe the only thing that matters are those moments when you're actually together. It’s tough, but that's just the reality of life... hang in there. 🙂

I really appreciate you reaching out and responding to my message.
It hits me hard too, seeing people around me who are struggling when I can't do anything to help, but I try to do what I can, and honestly, that brings me a huge sense of purpose and satisfaction.
I make an effort to connect with them, to look them in the eye, or just offer a kind word.
I try to give them something small that might brighten their day.
That's how I navigate it; it makes me feel fulfilled, and knowing I made someone's life even a tiny bit better makes me happy.
I also have those moments where I question the whole point of it all—why bother living if you're just going to end up facing a devastating illness or something equally brutal? But that's just the nature of existence.
And you know what helps me through those dark patches? The thought that there is someone by my side whom I can always support or bring a smile to.
So, I don't let the darkness win, and I refuse to surrender to depression.
I truly, deeply wish the same for you.
Thank you for mentioning your dad.
He and I are fighters; we aren't giving up, we're moving forward.
We take every new day as a gift.
kisses

If you take that line of reasoning, then even the bad times are just an illusion. You can't afford to be that pessimistic. You have to deal with both the highs and the lows, accepting them both as a shifting reality. Things will improve; they definitely will. I’m telling you, you’ll be feeling much better in the near future, and when you are, you can look back at my old posts and remember I said so.

cosmicviper76... I honestly find myself constantly hoping that people like that actually exist in the world
It’s such a relief that there are so many of us (people 🙂)... because even if most everyone else is just stuck inside their own little bubbles... there always have to be exceptions to the rule 😬

Yeah... it's wild... When I'm actually happy, I look back and think about how silly I was being, like just two days ago when I was totally spiraling over nothing. But then the sadness hits again and I feel like everything is falling apart... My brain really knows how to play tricks on me sometimes...

It works that way for everyone, period. That's just the nature of the beast. Personally, I try to outmaneuver my own brain to find some middle ground—aiming for a state where I’m neither riding high on euphoria nor sinking into total misery. You should give it a shot.

Honestly, I’m trying to do the same thing
it’s like when I’m feeling "cold" and detached, I actually seem to make much more rational decisions
but then... look at me... I start spiraling again and wondering where everything went sideways
at that point, all I really want is someone to just hold me
though if you start hugging people out of nowhere, they might think you've finally lost your mind... 😢

Need a hug? Family is the best place to find one. They’ll get you better than anyone else ever could. Besides, a solid friend can step up too. Just go to them, give them a squeeze, and tell them you need it because things are rough. No one is going to think you're losing your mind. Personally, I wouldn't judge an acquaintance for reaching out like that 🙂
