When a deadly outbreak hits the remote town of Nome, Alaska, and the only cure is 600 miles away, legendary sled dog trainer Leonhard Seppala (Willem Dafoe) steps up to race against time to deliver the antidote via his dog sled team.

Seppala relies on an aging Siberian Husky named Togo to lead the pack. His wife (Julianna Nicholson) has raised Togo since he was just a wild little pup. After years of watching his grit and loyalty, Seppala knows Togo is their only shot at surviving this mission—especially with a massive storm heading straight for them.

Based on a true story, this movie follows the incredible bond between a man and his loyal dog during a desperate rescue mission. The Toga film hits Disney+ on December 20th.

It really is such a fantastic movie. I’d definitely suggest giving it a watch if you get the chance.

I just hope it doesn't end on a sad note, you know, with a dog dying and all that sort of thing

Honestly, it’s totally doable, but I’m just begging that they don't spoil anything too early—or at least throw out a massive spoiler warning if someone's planning on leaking the plot.

Nah. None of the dogs actually die in the movie. I mean, Toga—hopefully you get what I'm saying—passed away back in 1925, but the whole dramatic tension of the film isn't built on any dog dying or anything like that...

Togo

Man. Haven't watched anything that hit me that hard in a while. Not exactly a tear-jerker, just... gave me chills. Realized I’m heading back to school in less than a week, though. That part actually got to me.
It’s a beautiful movie. Just focuses on that bond between a dog and his person. That kind of loyalty is hard to put into words... often stronger than what you see between two people. You've got Togo, the owner, and the team racing through hell to get serum to save kids. They ran harder and through worse conditions than anyone, but they didn't even make the headlines because they weren't the ones who delivered the final shipment. Only the team that finished the job got the glory, even though there were 20 teams involved in the operation. Says a lot about the media back then, and honestly, not much has changed today. The scenery was gorgeous, too.
There’s plenty of stuff that feels totally unrealistic and dumb, which annoyed me more than usual. Especially since it's based on a true story. The ending is relatively happy, but those last 10 minutes... you'll be sitting there with goosebumps. The best part is definitely the actual photo of the owner and the dog from 1925. It's worth the watch. Most of the silly inaccuracies won't even matter once the core story takes over.

Dog and man. Beyond words.
