I’m actually considering driving out to Budapest to find the nearest IMAX theater equipped with a 15,000-watt sound system... my crew tells me the video and audio experience is leagues beyond this 3D simulation at AMC Theatres...

...and NINE INCH NAILS recently filmed a concert using 3D technology even before U2, it just hasn't been released yet... I've got goosebumps just thinking about it... ugh...

There are also talks between NIN and director James Cameron to film the show in 3-D ("to at least have proof when U2 rips us off next year that we did it first," Reznor says), and the band also has been in ongoing discussions with HBO for a Year zero miniseries which would launch in conjunction with a second album and an alternate-reality gama.

When asked about his futur plans for touring , after The lights in The sky wraps up, Reznor says The next series of shows May be a different beast altogether.

"Next time might just be white lights in a club and it's about the music," he says. "Because I'll be broke and that's all I'll have."

NIN & James Cameron! ...wow😁...I had no idea... but I'm genuinely worried we won't get a chance to see something like that in our local US theaters🤷

It would be worth being in Budapest👍...the sound at the Cineplex wasn't terrible, but it felt a little too quiet for an event of this magnitude...😁...

That movie—well, the concert—is absolute perfection. Honestly, I wouldn't bother trying to download it because it’s designed for 3D glasses; the quality will suck on a regular screen.
Just head over to AMC Theatres and catch it like a grown-up!

A total disaster. Honestly, one of the worst things I’ve ever sat through in my entire life.

It’s not even just about overusing the slow-mo effect—it’s that there isn't a single frame where they aren't messing with the footage. The directors lean on slow motion so much, and they mix it in such a clumsy way, that it feels less like a movie and more like a glorified music video. Compare that to how Marty McFly handled things in "Shine a Light"—that was a genuine concert experience.
And don't even get me started on the 3D. It’s basically useless. The glasses just get in the way; it would have been way better in 2D.

The songs and the band themselves kind of saved the day, but despite the killer music, walking out of the theater left me feeling totally miserable.
I actually planned on seeing this at least five times because U2 is one of my all-time favorite bands, but this is such a train wreck that I’d rather watch a live set or just listen to an album than deal with this crap ever again.

Go to Budapest and check out the IMAX theater!

Must be nice for you if it felt too quiet. I was there on Saturday, and frankly, I think it’s high time that the management finally "cuts the cord" and hires a legitimate acoustic engineer. I don't care how much they boast about Dolby Surround 7.1 or whatever high-end tech they've installed—loudness is not a substitute for quality! There were maybe a dozen people in the theater, which means the volume really needed to be calibrated differently than when the house is packed. The sound was grating... at times, the decibel levels hit a point that was actually painful, making it difficult to even follow along, which is hardly the experience one hopes for. Even with high-end Class A audio equipment—amplifiers running at perhaps 25-50 W—if those watts are pure enough, you can fill a massive space with effortless clarity. The film itself—well, more of a concert recording—is actually quite well-made despite some occasional hiccups with the 3D effect, but that’s likely due to the AMC Theatres' specific setup. As some others have pointed out, you probably need to catch this in IMAX to get the true picture. I wouldn't call myself a huge U2 fan, but as a complete work, the film is quite good. It just needs... a competent sound engineer.

I caught this the other day. The "film" is great, though a bit too short for my taste—when I was at their Vertigo Tour concert in Milan, the show felt much longer than this. Still, the whole 3D experience was incredible; I actually got chills because it brought back so many memories from that amazing concert...

I’m such a huge U2 fan that just being there made the whole experience worth it... Honestly, I’ve already seen it twice and I’m definitely going back for more.

the way that guy sings (Miss Ottawa 🙏 🙏 🙏 Bono), and man, the way those guys play... seriously, what a rush just listening to them. plus, seeing it all in 3D? totally surreal.

everyone needs to get to the AMC Theatres to see this. seriously 😬

The film was screened in Budapest this past spring (I was there that weekend when Bush visited the US).

Even the expert Radić shared his take in his latest review here: . I’m actually relieved he agrees with me. He points out the exact same issue—the film is way too stylized—though he's a bit gentler about it than I am. He did give Marty credit for the finesse, though.

Everything was technically well-executed, and I actually enjoyed the first twenty minutes, but honestly, if U2 isn't your absolute favorite band, you’re in for a rough time. I found myself counting down the minutes until it was over. If AC/DC had been the one behind this, it would have been a masterpiece; as it stands, I think I’ve had enough U2 to last me the next decade.
