Not likely... Weiland was far superior to Cornell—though when I think back to Cornell's solo stuff and that 'Can't Change Me' video, it’s just painful. One minute he's a grunge icon, the next he's basically an Italian lounge singer... what a drop...

I was actually planning on heading out to pick up a copy of Contraband tomorrow, but because I’m a total disaster, I’ve already gone ahead and downloaded half the damn album.
Honestly, it’s alright—definitely an improvement over Slash's Snakepit, I guess—but there isn't really a connection to Guns N' Roses at all. Slash just isn't bringing those signature solos to the table.
They’re somewhat comparable to their older stuff, but let's be honest—the lyrics are total garbage. It’s the kind of absolute trash only a junkie like Weiland could ever write.
Alright, look, I've gotta sit down and listen to the whole damn album from start to finish before I can actually make up my mind about any of this.

Look, I don't know, I just personally need lyrics that actually mean something, you know? Like, I've spent way too much time comparing Scott Weiland's songwriting to Izzy's or Axl's, and honestly, in my opinion, their stuff hits so much harder.
Most of the time, Scott is just cycling through the same old loop: getting high, getting busted by the cops, sitting in a cell, getting high again, then ending up in rehab just staring at a glass of water... 😉

Heh... I’ve always been a huge Stone Temple Pilots fan—I’m such a devotee of Scott Weiland that one of my girlfriends once teased me about having a bit of a crush on him 😁. To me, he was just this wild, untamed kid... loved playing the rebel, but honestly, he’s the only singer I’ll admit actually had real presence. Even when the lyrics were a bit hit-or-miss, he made up for it with pure honesty and raw energy in his vocals—it puts him miles ahead of Axl...

Velvet Revolver is solid, but if you ask me, Scott Weiland was definitely the weakest link in that lineup.

Look, it’s always easy to sit back and criticize everything by comparing it to how things used to be. But honestly, during that massive wave of messy, ego-driven, overhyped clone bands—think Linkin Park and that whole crowd—I was actually relieved when we finally got a break. It’s nice to actually hear something that feels fresh and genuinely rooted in rock music again..
Let’s be real, today’s supposed "rock stars" seem to spend way more time at the gym or under a plastic surgeon's knife than they ever did in rehab..
It's pathetic...

Their tour across the US is going incredibly well, and honestly, it feels like these rockers really hit their stride in their 40s, only to somehow keep getting better with age... 😍

Weiland actually earned some praise from his counselor for staying on track during the last six months at rehab—he’s even been cleared for travel outside the USA. He’s already halfway across Europe, and looks like he'll be hitting Austria by the end of the month...
Check out their website—it’s an absolute disaster... they have old concert footage up there. Weiland looks like some sort of disheveled, chain-smoking villain... honestly, I spent half an hour laughing; it's hard not to stare...

I honestly thought, "Oh great, just another band designed to appeal to girls," when I first saw the music video. It felt like some recycled version of the new Jane's Addiction.
