Hey there,

I could really use some pointers on a project I've got cooking. Here’s the gist of what I’ve gathered so far. I'm building a water heater for some tanks, and the goal is to have it crank up the heat until the water hits 90°C, then just shut itself off automatically—I read somewhere that using a PTC resistor might be the way to go for that self-regulating bit—and then kick back on once things cool down. I also want to throw in a digital display so I can see the real-time temp, plus maybe a little indicator light to show when the heater is actually running.

A few questions for you guys:
-What’s the best way to actually pull this off in terms of parts and wiring?
-What exactly am I looking at under L1 here (is it a coil, a transformer, or something else)?
-How do I even begin calculating the right resistance value?
