driftingtrucker22 said:Just one quick question for anyone in the know—does anyone actually know where I can get my hands on a fake cake? I’m talking about the kind of prank where the waiter carries out this dummy cake, trips, and sends it crashing to the floor... only for them to come back a few minutes later with the actual dessert, haha... I don't even know how else to put it 😁

I just finished watching the video from little Lola's wedding, and it looks like she actually used a fake cake.

So, I actually asked her where she picked it up... now I'm just sitting here waiting for her to get back to me. 👍

What on earth were your criteria for picking the cake's look?

The ingredients in these things are pretty much all the same 🙂

I’m looking at them and they all look gorgeous—it’s impossible to make a decision!

Also, does anyone happen to know the pricing at the Hershey's discount store for those fudge brownies, Griotte bites, and those little mini chocolate bars sold in bulk? Or even just a rough idea of how much cheaper they are...

Well, my approach is actually the exact opposite... I pick the flavor first and then tailor the design to match!
My absolute requirement was that it had to be a Ferrero flavored cake. Since that type of frosting is so creamy, there is simply no way I'd attempt a tiered cake where they stack on top of each other. It’s just not structurally sound. So, either I have to provide individual stands for every single tier, or the cake will be a single square layer...
Which means it might not look exactly how I envisioned it visually, but taste-wise, it will be perfection!
Also, I wanted every single serving to be the exact same flavor. There is nothing worse than looking around a party and seeing five people sitting near me eating a completely different kind of cake—especially if it happens to be the one I actually wanted! If everyone eats the same thing, there's no room for disappointment.

How much does the groom actually get a say in this? 😉 Sometimes I catch myself thinking, "Wait... should I even bother asking him what he wants?" 😛

You're totally right about the flavors. Plus, you shouldn't have to stand by the dessert table acting like some sort of frantic information desk explaining which slice belongs to which guest.

It looks like we share the same date, so maybe I can finally make a decision too. 😉

He’s involved in absolutely everything! 😉 Even if the presentation and flavor of the cake are secondary concerns... his primary focus is really on the quality of the lamb... whenever we make a selection, we weigh several different options against one another... however, the flavors are all so remarkably similar that we haven't actually had any real debates about them up to this point. 😉

All I know is that grabbing those chocolates in bulk from a place like Hershey's is definitely the smarter move. It’s obviously a much better value if you're looking to pick up a larger quantity.

Has anyone actually tried the cakes at Millennium?

driftingtrucker22 As I was saying—though I suppose I should clarify my position first—steelfox15 mentioned...
I’ve been scrolling through everything they have available, and honestly, it’s a bit of a letdown—they have all these things, but none of them are actually for sale... They’ve got these few Styrofoam models that look incredibly realistic, almost like the real thing, but it’s such a massive waste when you can't actually buy them... It's just frustrating... 😢

So, I went ahead and asked my aunt about all that—you know, checking in on whether they actually sell those custom fake cakes—and she told me flat out that they don't... apparently, keeping those things under wraps is their little "sweet secret"... or whatever. But then, because I wasn't entirely convinced, I gave them a call myself to get the real story, and it turns out they absolutely can make them... and the price would be around... $100 So, I’ll probably head over there tomorrow—or maybe sometime next week, if things don't get too hectic—just to take a look and finally pick one out... 😁

I see quite a few people praising them, so I'd love it if someone could PM me their number 🙂.

P.S. Regarding how the cakes actually look—did you show them some photos, or do they just have a catalog you pick from?

I've been falling down a rabbit hole reading about wedding cake flavors, and I am totally obsessed with this specific mousse idea (hope I spelled 😁 right, my brain is fried) ..

So, here’s a total rookie question for you guys 🙂

Is this kind of stuff something only high-end boutique bakeries pull off, or can just anyone 🤷 whip this up?

Where can I find some creative young bakers for a wedding cake? I'm looking for something really unique—maybe even something with little animal designs...
In Savannah, they only seem to do the classic styles. I actually saw one where the bride was dragging the groom across the floor, and that was the only funny design available, but the price was $60.... ????????

The other day at the airport in New York City, I stumbled upon the most incredible collection of cake toppers I've ever seen. They had everything—from hilarious animal figures and Disney characters to those classic, overly ornate, kitschy little trinkets. If anyone is looking for inspiration, you should definitely check them out.
Best regards,

I got married on August 23rd, and I have to give a huge shoutout to the desserts from Sweet Secrets and Cake and the parfaits from M&M's. Everyone was raving about both the cake and the treats after the wedding, and honestly, they were absolutely delicious to me too.

I really have to give a huge shout-out to Bond from Cincinnati—those pastries were absolutely incredible, beautifully presented and just... wow. And that cake? It was so delicious that there wasn't even a single crumb left to save for the fifteen or so people upstairs! 😍😍 Sending my best to everyone... I highly recommend them. 👍

I’ve personally tried them... and honestly? Neither the cake nor the pastries were any good! I was actually planning on ordering from them... I was looking forward to my friend's wedding, but I ended up just feeling so disappointed... really. Over the last six months, I’ve had the chance to sample four different dessert spreads at various weddings... and hands down, the absolute best ones were from M27 at their wedding! They were simply perfection...

..my mom wasn't exactly thrilled with that Bond either... I can't really weigh in since I don't eat sweets, but she loves them, so she had her say

Pastry chefs are giving me totally different numbers when it comes to how much dessert we actually need per guest. Since you guys have all been through this, how many slices or pieces should I realistically plan for at a wedding reception if I want enough for everyone to enjoy or take home in a little favor box?
