I'm planning for about 150 guests. I want something modern—one solid cake, not those tiered ones held up by metal stands—and it has to be chocolate.
What’s a reasonable price range for something like that?

If you're doing a chocolate cake for 150 people—which means about 33 pounds of cake if you're doing 10-ounce servings—and you skip the fondant, you're looking at something whipped, like this (image) image[/IMG]. If it's just stacked layers, prices start at $500 and go up depending on the couple, the decor (roses, etc.), how many chocolate fountains you want, and the scale. But if you go the fondant route, expect to start at $1,700, and honestly, Sky Is The Limit once you let your imagination run wild.

I'm really hoping I hit the jackpot with the sweets right out of the gate—otherwise, if I keep tasting everything, I'm going to end up looking like a parade float...

restlesssailor66, are you grabbing yours from Orient or is everything being provided at the venue?

Actually, it looks like I won't need to, because my sister is gifting me the desserts! She suggested getting them from Melchi's since their stuff is delicious, and honestly, I don't want her spending more than she can afford—she's still in college, after all—so I didn't even bring up any other options...😁

These blueberries are way too sweet 😉
but they aren't cheap either. Last time I picked some up, it was $37 kg... and I bet wedding catering prices are just as insane these days
I mean, seriously, how much has the price per pound of dessert gone up since my wedding 🤔

So, I’ve been keeping a pretty close eye on everything related to wedding costs lately—and honestly, every single fall, prices seem to jump up by at least 20%, depending on what you're looking at...

It’s actually kind of wild, isn't it? Makes you think maybe it’s better to just get hitched as soon as possible 😂

So, how much is Meli charging per pound for cake these days?

Ugh... thank god I’m already married. 😬

The other day I heard someone say a chair at Coney Island was like, $50 or something... totally caught me off guard.

Seriously, they're yummy, yum yum 😍... we actually got ours from Montauk... just as good... $33kg, but they were included in our catering package... just thought I'd drop that info here in case anyone's looking

Man, I remember when $27 was insanely overpriced... 🤣
Anyway, I grab their pastries for parties at my place all the time when I can't be bothered to bake, and they’re honestly killer... plus their cakes are amazing. Honestly, $37 per pound isn't even that bad if I'm grabbing a couple of pounds. If I ever get the bright idea to get married again, one look at current prices would definitely talk me out of it. 😬

Hey,
Has anyone actually been to The Sweet Spot lately? I'm trying to get a sense of what their dessert prices look like... any insight would be appreciated.🙂

We ordered from them. $22/lb. They are excellent.
One issue: when we arranged everything a month before our wedding, the owner promised to deliver the sweets to both our house and the venue. When we showed up two days prior to drop off the serving boxes, they told us we had to pick up the home portion ourselves. Consequently, the groom had to drive all the way out to the suburbs on his actual wedding day just to get the dessert.
Get everything in writing first.!!!!!!!
Otherwise, the desserts were phenomenal!
The cake itself was part of the package from the restaurant we used.
Here it is, the chocolate cake.

The decorations came from our local florist, Mirella.

Check out this cake from our big day! It was absolutely perfect and looked stunning—at least in our eyes.

So, I'm back at it again dealing with wedding planning, and this time it's all about the dessert situation. I was wondering if John Doe could weigh in—does anyone have recommendations for some seriously amazing cakes or pastries? Should I look into something from Eva's bakery? Or maybe Jane Doe's? Or even just find a local home baker? Thanks! 🙏 👋 👋

The freshest scoop on Piece of Cake 🙂

A whole ton of sweets $37

They do wedding cakes—some with fondant and some without... I asked about enough for roughly 70 guests, and with the fondant, she quoted me $800$300 at most—though she mentioned it might even be cheaper once we settle on the final design...

The lady there is just incredibly, incredibly sweet, and honestly, their cakes are absolutely delicious.
A coworker brought one of their chocolate cakes to my birthday party today, and I was so impressed that I immediately went ahead and ordered one for my godchild’s baptism this Saturday... For a crowd of 200 people, we're looking at about $67
They actually offer delivery for both the full cakes and the individual pastries too

If you're hosting a huge group, you can always do a large sheet cake on the bottom tier to mix two different flavors, and then stack another layer or two on top—that’s actually what she recommended to the bride who was right in front of me in line

So yeah, they seem super flexible to work with... the only thing is they're a little pricey, but since I'm working with a smaller group, I think I'll just treat myself to that extra bit of indulgence🙂

I haven't actually tried it yet—mostly because I managed to put on a few extra pounds while I was stuck at home feeling under the weather...

I’m thinking about placing an order with them for the holidays—maybe grab about five or six pounds worth of everything so we can sample all the different varieties...

But man, this cake today... oh my goodness...
I’m usually not much of a chocolate cake person—I don't really go for anything chocolatey in dessert form (though I will never turn down a good bar of chocolate)—but this? This felt like eating pure, unadulterated chocolate... absolutely incredible...

Oh my gosh, yes, yes, yessssss! That is exactly what I want! I actually tried it at that birthday party, and honestly? It tasted just like actual chocolate
I mean, anything that reminds me of chocolate is basically my favorite thing ever... just starting with any shade of brown, you know?
My cake was made with legit, premium chocolate from Whole Foods

Our cake...
The Cookie House... 👍
Everything was gone... even the cookies vanished the second you mentioned them...
We ordered 15 lbs ... Just for laughs, and we went with the creamy ones... small bites (half the size of those huge bakery slices)
It actually ended up being cheaper than I expected 👍😉

I should be charging $500 for these pastries. I have a local baker making them with her own ingredients, $0.50 giving me one free pastry regardless of whether it's dry or filled with cream. Custom cakes are ordered separately and run about $33 each. The quality is guaranteed, so there's no concern there. Now, I just need to convince my husband to drive me over to her shop so we can finalize the details...

Has anyone here actually tried the pastries from Kašnar over in the coastal area, or perhaps visited Anastasia in Domaslovac? I've been curious about them...
