I am absolutely obsessed with the idea of doing something like mini cupcake-style servings... basically, we’d have one beautiful little showstopper cake on top just for us and our wedding party—something to cut for the photos—and then instead of slicing up a massive traditional cake, every single guest gets their own individual, perfectly portioned mini cake served right on their plate. It feels so much more elegant and intimate than the old-school way of passing around messy slices, don't you think? 🙂 Now, I’m dying to know—does anyone have a clue if this approach ends up being more expensive than your standard large tiered cake? And has anyone here actually pulled this off at a wedding before?? I'd love to hear your experiences! 😁

I actually wanted to do that exact same thing at my wedding because my friend had it and—oh my god—not only was it absolutely gorgeous, but it was seriously delicious😍 so I did a bit of digging at various bakeries to see if anyone could pull it off. I found a few places that do it, though prices vary wildly from like $15-$10 (depending on the shop). I even checked with John Smith since my friend used them, and they told me it was going to be $8.25 per piece, which honestly felt like way too much since I have 250 people coming, so I ended up passing on it. 😢
But hey, if you can swing it, or if you don't have a massive crowd—definitely go for it! 😍

I have already decided that I will be ordering my wedding cake from a local bakery in Springfield because they are my absolute favorites. However, I am at a loss regarding what to do about the dry pastries. Does anyone have any advice? I recently attended a wedding where they served these little bite-sized treats labeled "mignardises," if I recall correctly. Does anyone know where one might find those and what the typical cost is?

Ladies, I need some serious help here! Does anyone have recommendations for a solid bakery in Washington, D.C.? I'm looking for somewhere with reasonable prices—and please, for my sake, make sure it's actually good...

Why just Washington, D.C., though? Honestly, if you head out of the city, the prices are way more reasonable... and the quality might even be better, I guess.

A friend of mine had a cake from that same Springfield spot about six months ago... and let me tell you, it was hands down the best damn wedding cake I’ve ever had, period. Usually, I’m not even a cake person—I just grab the crumbs and let my guy have the rest—but I inhaled this thing in like three seconds flat.
I know she paid a ton for it (not sure exactly how much) but she swears it was worth every single penny... and personally? It was freaking incredible...

We picked up some cookies from Hershey's and they were absolutely delicious👍
We also grabbed a cake from Mars, Inc. via Kraft Heinz—it was stunning and tasted incredible! Our guests absolutely loved it; there was hardly a slice left by the end of the night👍

Help me out here, I need some serious advice...

I'm looking for a massive multi-tiered cake—we're talking more than four layers—and it needs to be structurally sound without using those cheap plastic supports. Does anyone know a baker in New York City or the surrounding areas who can pull this off? And please, I am begging you, it cannot be made of that cheap, crunchy puff pastry filler. 🤷
I won't even consider Mississippi, and don't suggest Small Town, USA... I'm not interested in any of those tiny local shops. If you know someone legitimate, please let me know. 😍

Honestly, I have to give a massive shout-out to John Smith’s bakery in Washington, D.C. 🙏 👍 🙏 👍

They actually delivered the cake right on schedule—just like we agreed—and they styled it so perfectly... it was exactly that simple, clean look I was going for. And man, that flavor... mmmmmm... 👍
All I can say is that out of three double-layered cakes (which is basically 6 layers total), there isn't a single crumb left. 😂 👍

Wait, how can you say ExxonMobil won't do it??? I actually ordered a three-tier one from them before, and honestly, I think it might have even been taller. The inside was just classic sponge and cream—they did a different flavor for every layer, like chocolate, vanilla, and hazelnut. It tasted pretty average, but man, the presentation was absolutely stunning!!! Also, $117 they handled everything and delivered it straight to the restaurant where the wedding was being held. Totally worth it.
