Check out our wedding cake. 😍
The whole spread—cake and sweets—came from Katie's at that Hershey's shop in Small Town, USA. Right now, they’ve got a deal on wedding treats for just $9 a pound.
Everyone absolutely loved them, so if you ladies are looking for something sweet, definitely give them a shot. I can't recommend them enough. 🙂

I love the price and the look of this!!! If they taste as good as they look, I'm sold on the detail too!! 🎉👋 Calling them right now!! Thanks for the heads up!👍

Here's the kicker, though: that was actually a fake cake. 😬Just sponge cake and frosting.
I served cupcakes on the plates instead. Basically, three different flavors to represent the three layers of the one we cut—like vanilla bean, Black Forest... 🤔kill me if I'm wrong on the third one, I'm not exactly a pro baker, I just know what tastes good. 😬The decor turned out great. Each flavor had its own little vibe, and honestly, everyone loved them. Highly recommend. 🙂

Any chance you could post a photo of those "cupcakes"? This "fake" one looks pretty great to me

Does anyone know someone who does stuff like this? http://lh3.ggpht.com/_TKLYTmaiMLY/Ss...gdalena078.jpg (Or is this something you can just get made anywhere?)

Man, I swear you can find almost identical little cakes at that Millennium bakery right by Times Square—it’s where I get my absolute favorite cookies!😍😍

I asked about this at a trade show at Madison Square Garden. Turns out everyone is doing it now. They go for $10 to $5.00, over at Vincennes $9.25.

Sadly, I don't have any.😢
We told the photographer strictly no food or plate shots, and honestly, in all the chaos, I totally blanked on the cupcakes, damn.

You can order cupcakes anywhere these days—just keep in mind the price climbs fast depending on the flavors and how fancy they look. 😉🙂

Monica, do you have any idea what things cost over there?
Daniel Smith8, is everyone actually doing that now? I've been wanting this forever, and I recently stumbled upon this photo of a super chill, low-key wedding—definitely my vibe... but looking at these prices, it feels like the whole thing is gonna cost way more than the actual cake.🤷

Hello everyone. I am new here; I haven't really participated in any online forums before, but a friend mentioned that this is a great place to find useful advice, so here I am. 😁 I have been browsing through your posts about cakes and pastries, and I must say, the prices out there are absolutely outrageous, especially $37 for a single kilogram of cake. I recently visited a fair at the convention center and tried some treats from a local baker in Ann Arbor called "Klarin's Cookies," and they were wonderful—not just to me, but everyone around me was raving about them. Typically, the price is $25, though there is currently a 10% discount at the fair. I actually gave them a call and managed to get some free samples for testing, and we have everything scheduled for May 22, 2010. A cake large enough to serve 150 people would cost me $400. I highly recommend giving them a call and going for a tasting, as I am truly impressed. 👍👍👍

And Absolut in Karlovac has a wedding mix for $18 and their sweets are great (you can grab them at Walmart so you can test them out first). $67 handles delivery in New York City, but it's not like it's far if you want to just drive over there yourself... and apparently, in San Jose, it's 50 bucks at the Mozart bakery (at least that's what some girl told me, so who knows if it's true), and supposedly they offer free delivery... but look, I don't know about that, but I *do* know about Absolut because their cakes are on the menu at my venue, and I think I'll just order them for home too so everyone gets the same thing....

Yeah, I stumbled upon that online forever ago too. Right before the expo, I spotted a cake just like it at Vincek (check their site—they have one in their wedding gallery, though I can't link it because their website is down right now). Then I asked about the price at the arena expo and nearly fainted when the lady quoted me $9.25 per piece. I did some digging at other booths afterward; everyone said they could pull off that look without any trouble. placidskipper422 had a similar one on display, but they use fondant, which I can't stand. Vincek uses chocolate.

Anyway, I'm getting the pastries from Mus in San Jose; they're about $20 a kilo and they're fantastic—my maid of honor used them, and I tried them at the expo; they hold up perfectly.🙂
I'll likely order a cake like that from them too; I think the price is $5.00/piece.

I mean, it can't be true that Vincek is the only one in New York City capable of pulling this off... It’d be awesome if someone here could chime in—ideally someone who’s actually dealt with those kinds of wedding cakes before...

Anyway, ladies, any idea how much dessert I should realistically order for a crowd of 120?

And uh... how are you planning on getting it into the city? Are they doing delivery or are you driving it in yourself?

Found these shots of the cake from Vincek on my hard drive:

Mus handles their own deliveries, if I recall correctly, so $33.

I saw that too... but isn't that stuff served in those clear plastic cups?

Word is they're doing the wedding without any cups at all.

Alright, thanks... I'll follow up with them to get the full scoop, but if anyone knows someone besides Vincek who actually does decent work—not just the mediocre stuff—let me know...

As far as amounts go—whenever I call up bakeries, they tell me to aim for maybe a third to a half a pound per person, but the guy at my venue said to budget a pound for every six guests, so just use that as a rough guide.

thanks, I actually spent most of today bugging people to figure out how much cash I’m gonna need at the bakery...

Anyway, ladies, I finally tracked down the spot that makes those little cakes from the photo...
The bakery is over in Ann Arbor, and a slice runs me about $3.25—honestly, they're killer...

Hey everyone... I was wondering if you could all do me a huge favor? I am on the hunt for someone who makes absolutely incredible cakes and pastries—the kind of treats that truly blow you away! Ideally, I'm looking for recommendations in the Savannah area, or maybe somewhere near Madison or the surrounding suburbs...
Thanks so much 🙄
