So, we picked up some pastries and a cake from the local bakery downtown, Heart... and honestly, everyone was raving about how good they were. I guess my one little gripe is that they didn't really go heavy on the Raffaello truffles or those chocolate hazelnut bites—they were kind of stingy with those specific ones—but then again, maybe that’s just on me for not speaking up and asking for extra in the first place... I'll definitely know what to say next time.😂 The treats themselves are super fresh and just delicious, seriously. Here is the link if you want to check them out

not that those places were ever really on my radar anyway.

Maybe I’m just being picky, but I’ve officially blacklisted every single bakery I’ve ever visited where the food just didn't hit right. Even if it was just once.
Those cheap supermarket pastries can taste straight-up greasy. Sometimes they’re alright... but honestly, I’m not about to take that risk.

Oh man, it's such a relief to find someone who feels the same way. I was starting to think my husband and I were the crazy ones. Everyone tells me how much they love those pastries and how they drive all the way to that small town in the US just to grab them for birthdays or big parties. Even my husband once drove over there after lunch because we were both craving something sweet. The first time, we figured they were just having an off day, but the second time, we realized that's just how their desserts are. Obviously, everyone has different tastes, but to us, every single thing they made tasted like colored margarine. 🤷👎

I completely agree with Emma!

I haven't personally had any bad experiences with Emma, so I can't really say I agree with you all... though of course, there's always a chance things could go sideways. That said, their cakes are absolutely incredible, so they'll probably be my top choice.

The local bakery treats from that small town in the US.
20 kg of cookies plus a massive cake for 120 guests $100

Still $22 kg of cookies?
Did you guys get free samples?
How do they charge for cakes?

I gotta admit, their prices look amazing, but I've never actually tried them so I have no clue if they're any good.
Does anyone know if they have a shop in NYC I can hit up?
I know Aspen isn't exactly around the corner, but I don't drive and I'm working like crazy 100 hours a week (gotta pay for this wedding 😂), so it's kind of a hassle.

The price is still sitting at $22/lb.
When we went in to finalize our dessert order, the lady there actually brought out a little sampler plate for us to try. Personally, I thought they were pretty decent.
I'm not entirely sure how they calculate the cake costs, though. Ours was made with fondant, three tiers high, with a different flavor for every layer, serving about 120 guests—it came out to $333.
The cake looked something like this (note those little decorative curls on it):

Delivery to the venue is already included in that quote.

thanks for the heads up

And I love the cake—it looks super classy! 👍 Price seems fair, too.

OT: I’ve always wondered how they actually slice those multi-tiered cakes... like, you start at the top and cut out the first layer—doesn't the next one look weird without its top? Like, where does the top layer go? 🤷
Does anyone get what I mean? 😂

feels more like you're trying to cut from top to bottom

So what happens next? 😕

Does one guest get a slice from all three tiers? Or what? 😕

I suspect they’re just slicing it floor by floor, which means those top layers end up missing from the slices—but honestly, nobody even notices. I can't remember the last time I was at a wedding and actually got a perfectly cut slice of cake, though it didn't bother me one bit while I was eating it. 😬

I've been wondering the exact same thing! 🤣
If any of you ladies have actually had one of these cakes, please let us know how it goes! 😉

Look, if you watch wedding videos on YouTube or check out the portfolios of videographers you’re considering for your big day, you’ll notice they always show the full cake being cut, from top to bottom.
The couple usually just takes one slice each, leaving the rest for the catering staff to handle—they know how to plate the individual pieces.

For instance, here’s one example where they sliced through two tiers instead of three.
And here’s another showing all three tiers being cut.

At the end of the day, it's really up to you what you want to do. 😁

I called them and their rates are actually pretty reasonable
$22/lb for pastries + about $1200$467 for a cake for 150 people (depending on the decor)
Are the pastries actually any good, or is it just eating cardboard?

My husband cleared more than half his plate, while I just had one slice of Canadian chocolate cake. Personally, I think the sweets are great, though we’ve always been the kind of people who would probably enjoy eating literal garbage if it were smothered in chocolate sauce😬
It might be best to just swing by their shop, sample some of the pastries, and decide for yourself right then and there.

Here we go again! 🤣 Let's try this one more time, everyone together now: no advertising on this subforum, there's a specific one just for that 🙄 if the rules apply to the Seattle subforum, they definitely apply here too 😵

I have a quick question for Emma. First off, those mini cakes of yours—wow. They are absolutely stunning, so elegant and visually appealing, and I’m sure they taste just as good too, haha
.
Honestly, they look better than any individual dessert I’ve scrolled past online, which leads me to my actual question: how big are they really?
Is one single mini cake actually enough for one guest? On one hand, I know there will be plenty of other desserts and treats served alongside the wedding cake, but I can already see myself panicking when someone asks for seconds and I have to say, "Sorry, we're all out," heheheheh
.
I am obsessed with the idea, and I think they are so much more charming than a traditional cake, but at the same time, I'm a little nervous about the logistics

Quick question, maybe someone already covered this, but: how many pastries should I grab for a wedding with 150 guests if I’m doing an 8-tier dessert display? Also, what’s the ballpark price for something like that these days? Thanks!

We were just talking about cookies and prices earlier without anyone complaining about links or costs—suddenly, it's "an advertisement."

Nathan Cox25, look, her first few posts were basically carbon copies, just straight-up ads for two different subforums—one for NYC and one for Cleveland. It's nothing but spam, honestly. And the ads are actually kind of hilarious because this lady literally told me back when I was in Cleveland that since I’m from the Midwest, I should deliver her homemade cookies for a wedding. 🙄☕

Yeah, just like how we used to order our linocuts and ads—getting all our invitations and thank-you notes shipped in from Mexico instead of just sourcing them locally in Chicago 🙄
