The whole car seat debate gets under my skin too: "How is a tiny infant even supposed to ride in one?" And then I’m stuck explaining that it’s an infant carrier specifically engineered for newborns from day one...

A baby nest is that little padded cushion used to hold infants in your arms, like this:

And if we’re actually going to debate car seats, I have to add one thing: how on earth did we all survive back then? As if you could just bolt a modern car seat into a horse-drawn carriage... ridiculous...🤣

I shut that conversation down immediately, and now they don't dare bother me with it again.

But cats scratch kids right in the eyes! And they do it in the middle of the night when you aren't looking.😂

I told the last neighborhood busybody that we'd already arranged for euthanasia, and she just looked at me and said, "Smart move. People usually lose their minds when you suggest that."🙂🙂

Honestly, my hair is driving me absolutely crazy! 😠
It’s gotten thinner lately, and I swear I'm losing way more strands than I used to.
I suppose I just inherited this from my mother.

Honestly, who cares about a crib? The kid will just be sleeping with you and your husband for the first year anyway! ☕...
What car seat? You basically just carry a newborn in a swaddle... 😲
Now you’ll probably have to get rid of the dog. It’s common knowledge that dogs get jealous and go after small children. I heard a story from a friend of a friend of a neighbor—some lady's acquaintance had that exact issue. Her dog ate her baby... or maybe the dog will just get jealous and toss the kid around like a football. 🤣 🤣 🤣 ... I don't even know whether to laugh or cry at this point. 🤷
And how on earth are you getting to the top floor without an elevator? I guess you'll just have to carry them up in pieces...

Fortunately for us, nobody really commented on the crib situation—though there were plenty of people claiming their own kids never used one and that ours wouldn't either. Right, because they're clearly experts.
As for the car seat, I actually ended up getting into quite a debate with my mom when my sister had her baby—it was the exact same argument as above—but luckily, we managed to convince everyone how important safety is.
Regarding the dog, my dad was the only one who asked how we'd manage it. And he got his answer.

I'm feeling the same frustration regarding my hair. It has zero shape and gets greasy so fast—not to mention I've noticed strands falling out too.

And honestly, the "helpful" comments about what I should be eating or what counts as healthy food really get under my skin... especially since I don't feel like explaining to everyone that I don't exactly have money to throw around on organic superfoods, so we just eat whatever we can afford.

That's exactly what gets under my skin too... everyone acting like I have to give up my dog because the baby might actually come earlier than expected, and apparently, the dog and the newborn can't be in the same space.😛 It sends my blood pressure through the roof.😠 Seriously, who are these people to try and boss me around? As if I don't know right from wrong. They expect me to just hand over my dog—who’s been with me for ten and a half years, a poor old soul who's seriously sick. I love that dog so much it kills me. And honestly, who would even take an old, ailing dog like that? He needs heavy meds every single day. The only option they're implying is euthanasia, and there is zero chance of that happening. I'd literally die from the heartbreak. People can be so incredibly nasty and intrusive sometimes, it’s disgusting. They just love sticking their noses where they don't belong.👎

Ugh... I gave birth six months ago, but the memories are still vivid. I absolutely loathed it when acquaintances would reach out and grab my stomach without asking. And God, the sudden influx of self-appointed gynecologists was unbearable—my mother-in-law was the worst offender of them all.
- "Your bump is sitting too low; you won't even make it to your due date," she claimed. I delivered exactly on schedule, June 16th.
- "The baby will likely be bald, maybe even hairy, 🙄 given how much acne you have." My child is currently as hairless as biologically possible. 😍

- "Oh goodness, all those ultrasounds... why do you insist on radiation exposure?"

- "Just get some sleep now while you can; you have no idea what's coming once the baby arrives." As if I were heading straight into a concentration camp 🙄 rather than parenthood. My child started sleeping through the entire night at one month old, and they haven't woken up since.

Et cetera, et cetera...

Protect your peace, ladies. Some people simply feel a biological necessity to run their mouths. 😁

I honestly can't stand it when people start giving me that condescending crap, acting like buying stuff for my baby is some kind of stupid waste of money or totally unnecessary! ☕
"Oh, just let me lend you some clothes, and then you can pay me back later..." Give me a break. I am really not in the mood to be playing borrower, especially when I have to stress about whether I'm actually fooling anyone or if things are going to get messy down the road... Like, if I can't even cover the absolute essentials, then I'm basically screwed!

And another one for the pile: 😂

"What's the point of buying all that? The kid will outgrow it in a week, and you won't even have time to do the laundry anyway..."
"Why bother? You know how much free stuff you'll get once the baby arrives, right?" etc., etc.

Yeah, sure. Like I'm expecting someone to drop off size 2-month-old outfits during those first few weeks. Honestly, I'm barely planning on letting anyone through my front door for the first month anyway. ☕

Honestly, that really gets under my skin too—the implication that you can somehow "stock up" on sleep beforehand. It’s just not how it works.

That's just not true, though. I've mentioned this on the forums before; my sister actually ended up missing out on those tiny little outfits because she listened to everyone else. She simply couldn't keep up with the laundry and drying. It might be true that babies don't wear certain sizes for very long, but you still need plenty of pieces because of constant changes and washing. And you certainly don't get those newborn-sized items handed to you during the initial visit period.

I’m getting incredibly frustrated with all these empty promises about gifts—everything from a dresser to a crib. Now, suddenly, there’s no money left. Look, I get it, the economy is a mess right now, but they could have just kept their mouths shut about it. Besides, I’m already eight months pregnant; there was plenty of time earlier in the pregnancy to actually set the funds aside. 🙄

Whenever I deal with this kind of disappointment, I just remind myself of the old saying: "Trust in yourself and your own horsepower." 🤣

It’s honestly such a strange feeling when people say things like, "I really want to buy this, but I just can't afford it right now." 🤮
First off, if I’m ever giving a gift from the heart, I truly don't care whether it puts a bit of a dent in my bank account or not...
Second, I certainly wasn't asking for anyone to step in! So, I guess I don't quite understand why people feel the need to announce, "Look how generous I am, I'm broke but I'll buy it anyway."
Thirdly, if you don't actually have the funds, why on earth would you offer to buy something or go out of your way to flaunt how little money you have?
🙄

Ugh, this whole shopping situation has been driving me absolutely insane since my sister said she'd help out.
Back when I was about four or five months pregnant, she decided we should get a crib. But her plan was to wait a couple of months until "some extra cash hits our bank account"—yeah, right...
Two weeks later, I happen to find the exact crib I wanted on sale for $283, fully loaded, so I just went ahead and bought it. She promised she’d pay me back.
(In the meantime, my mom actually had to cover the bill for me because I was short on funds)
Fast forward to now—I'm two weeks away from my due date, and suddenly, there hasn't been a single word about that money.

Why make a promise if you have zero intention of keeping it? Is it just for the ego boost of hearing yourself say you'll buy someone something?

I don't know if we're even on the same page here... I'm actually agreeing with you, and honestly, comments like yours are exactly what get under my skin. That's why I went ahead and bought everything myself.

As for gifts...
my mom and my mother-in-law already coordinated so they'd grab the crib and the changing pad with the sheets.
We'll handle the rest ourselves.

What kind of people are these?🙄 If it were me, I’d be counting down the days to buy a gift for my grandson. I’d be setting aside a little money every month or even borrowing some just to make sure I could afford it.

The ones who claim they "don't have any money" for a birthday that only happens once a year...
Of course, you don't raise a child solely on gifts—that's obviously not the case at all—but if you can't manage to buy them one thing once a year... well, I guess you might as well just give up entirely.🙄

Or when they start playing favorites among the grandkids. 👎 Pure primitivism. 😠

It’s the exact opposite at my house when it comes to my mother-in-law 🤷..... she just wants to go on endless shopping sprees 😲 😲 and frankly, it gets under my skin 😁 because she insists on picking everything out herself ☕

I swear, pregnant women are never satisfied 😍 😍

We actually got some cash gifts from our folks—all in USD, naturally—so we’ve got a little something tucked away on both sides; honestly, they really stepped up there 🙏

(And I don't just mean specifically for the baby, but more like... a nice little financial cushion for all those random household expenses we’re constantly juggling, you know, everything related to getting ready for the little one)

Oh, great... lucky you. Mine complains about every single thing, and we have to shut up about what we're buying because she acts like she's being inconvenienced. She claims if it isn't "essential," it's a waste since the baby grows out of it so fast—so we should just borrow stuff from someone else. Borrow from who? Spend money like I'm some broke college kid wandering around Target? 😠 Honestly, she's a total piece of work. When we bought the crib, she was like, "Why did you spend so much on that?" (the crib was like $367 bucks), saying you can find them everywhere $167 even with a mattress included. But where exactly? And what kind? I ask, and of course, she doesn't have an answer since they don't exist. Then when we got the dresser and other gear, she goes, "Oh, I was actually thinking of buying that for you..." 😛 Sure you were, lady, but you didn't say a word about needing anything else before we bought it! Like, if you wanted to help, you should've spoken up. Remember when Walmart had that big sale on baby stuff? I was there first thing in the morning grabbing onesies, socks, and little outfits. Then she goes to Walmart later and asks if I need anything, I say no because I already went, and then she's like, "Well, I really wanted to get those onesies." And then she starts talking about how cute the little shorts and pajamas are, but then says, "Well, since you already got them, I guess there won't be any other occasion." Give me a break. If you wanted to buy something, you could've picked out a pajama set or something I missed... good grief. Seriously... I'm getting more fed up by the day. Best bet is to just buy it, keep our mouths shut, and tell nobody a damn thing.
