Kyle Lee6 said:It’s honestly driving me a little crazy—I just spent an entire hour in the bathroom prepping for my checkup tomorrow (which basically means I'll probably end up nicking myself with a razor anyway), and then, right as I’m getting ready to moisturize, I realize I used an old, dull blade and missed half the job. So now, instead of a relaxing morning, I’m looking at a 6:00 AM wake-up call to deal with this whole mess all over again..🙄

Oh man, I am feeling so incredibly unmotivated right now, I can't even put it into words.

So we had people over yesterday, right? And this woman walks up to me, sees me, and goes, "Oh my god, you've gotten soooo fat!!" just beaming with excitement like she didn't just insult me to my face. My blood pressure went through the roof. I just looked her dead in the eye and said, "We aren't fat, we're pregnant." (I mean, yeah, I’ve put on some weight, but who does she think she is?!)
Honestly, people just have zero boundaries these days! Then later, I head to Target carrying basically two items. TWO! And there’s a line in front of me like they’re handing out free iPhones or something. I must have been like fifth or sixth in line, and everyone ahead of me has a cart overflowing with groceries, yet nobody even glances my way to see if I want to jump ahead. I'm not the type to be a pushover, so I actually spoke up, but man... 🙄especially since everyone was staring at my stomach like I was some kind of exhibit, acting like I just had to wait forever. It was the exact same crap a few hours earlier at the USPS office! Some lady actually tried to shove her way in front of me and asked, "Mind if I go ahead of you?" She got such a sharp "No" from me that she didn't even bother asking again!
People are seriously trash, if you ask me!

People were driving me absolutely insane outside the restroom at the arena during that whole circus 🙂. I get in line, and this lady just cuts right in front of me, claiming she needs to go super fast because it’s an "emergency." It wasn't even an emergency for me; I don't have a toddler sitting on my bladder 🙄... if the whole arena didn't hear my reaction, they never will 🙂. Naturally, the woman behind me just stared at the wall while we waited 😁>

Fast forward to today. I'm standing at the checkout in the grocery store—of course, nobody lets me skip ahead even though I've only got a single yogurt in my hand—and this lady cuts in again, insisting she only has one item 🙂... she heard me loud and clear this time, though. My patience is wearing thin, so she ended up moving to the back of the line

I think I'm becoming a bit of a villain. But it's hard to stay calm when I've been dealing with a pinched nerve for days now (not that anyone needs to know that 😛). I'm shuffling along like an idiot, and people just shove past me without a second thought, or worse, give you that little nudge like, "Move it, you're in my way" 🙂>

Honestly, I don't really care if people call me fat... 🤷 To me, it’s kind of cute. Maybe it's just because my hormones are actually doing their job for once...

No one seems interested in cutting me any slack. Just the other day, some guy had the nerve to jump right in front of me at the grocery store. We were both just standing there waiting for the cashier to come out with our bread, but he decided he was first despite me being there before him. What an absolute jerk—especially considering I’m pregnant and clearly shouldn't be stuck in a standoff over a loaf of sourdough.
It’s been the same story at the clinic. I sat in that freezing waiting room for two hours straight. I didn't even have the heart to ask if they could see me sooner, mostly because I knew everyone else would just roll their eyes at me.

People are truly animals. It is absolutely mind-boggling how no one will step aside for a pregnant woman; they actually have the audacity to look you in the eye and ask if they can cut in front of you!! I suppose I can’t say I’m surprised by the men, given they haven't a clue what this experience is like—though, honestly, they tend to be much more attentive toward us, almost as if they're walking on eggshells, haha. But those older women? Good grief, surely they were once pregnant themselves and could manage a shred of empathy!

On a different note, I am becoming increasingly irritated by my own sudden forgetfulness. This morning, while running errands near Target, I headed to the restroom intending to collect a sample for my sister's medical tests, only to find myself habitually using the toilet instead of the specimen cup. I was standing there, clutching the little cup in my hand, staring at it with such misplaced confidence! It wasn't until I was finished that the realization hit me: I had completely botched the task. No sample for my sister this time...

It just reminded me of what a friend told me... she was eight months pregnant and taking the subway to an appointment. She stood by the door because, naturally, nobody bothered to give up their seat 🙄... then this woman stares her down and asks how far along she is. My friend answers, hoping at least someone might offer a seat 😁 but instead, the lady just looks at her and goes, "Must be tough for you, huh?" and then she just 😂 😂 😂 and stays seated... my friend said she didn't know whether to cry or laugh in that moment 🤷

Honestly, women seriously get on my nerves when they start preaching about how back in the day, they’d be working themselves to the bone right up until the moment they went out to the cornfields to give birth! I cannot tell you how many times I've heard people call pregnant women today "soft" or "spoiled." 🙄 Look, I couldn't care less how much you suffered back then—seriously, I really don't. We aren't living in the Middle Ages where you had to chop wood and haul heavy loads just because "that's how it was done." But that's exactly how those women think, which is why I feel like they can be so incredibly rude about it...

If it offers any small measure of comfort—it certainly didn't for me—nobody cut in line while I was pregnant. But the moment I have my little one in my arms or tucked into a carrier, people suddenly become unnervingly polite and practically clear a path for me. I can't even 👍

That’s just how things work here... nobody cuts in front of me locally, but I was recently in Italy and people were practically shoving me to the front of the line. Same thing at the H&M in Minneapolis... It’s just that here in America, it feels like people act like you don't even exist😉 (if only they just ignored you instead of actively pushing past you😠).

So, I popped into the local DMV just to pick up my ID—there wasn't even a crowd, really. You grab a number, there are maybe four or five people ahead of you, and you're out of there in ten minutes tops. Plus, there were plenty of empty chairs if you actually wanted to sit down.
I’m sitting there, minding my own business after taking my number, when I spot this older woman practically poised at the starting blocks, waiting for the exact moment I reach the front. As soon as it's my turn, she practically sprints past me to the counter, slamming her disability card down because, apparently, she's "disabled"—though she was moving with the agility of an Olympic sprinter. Honestly, what was she running from? A sore toe?

The sign at the DMV clearly states: "pregnant women and individuals with disabilities have priority"
But look, I didn't make a scene; I was in that blissful, hazy state where 🙂hormones are basically driving the bus. If she had been in a wheelchair or using crutches, struggling to walk, I wouldn't have thought twice about stepping back. But to be that brazenly rude?

And once she finally shuffled away, the clerk behind the desk—bless his heart—turns to me and says, "Women going through menopause are truly the worst!" 😂 😂 😂 😂 Talk about the perfect way to brighten my day.

Honestly, I found myself feeling quite irritated today after realizing my prenatal records mention hearing the baby's heartbeat and the exact length of the little one—details my OBGYN hasn't actually shared with me at all. She didn't say a word, let alone show me anything; she just typed it into her computer, noted it in my chart, and told me the baby looks perfectly healthy... which is fine, I suppose, but still. When I gathered the courage to ask if I could perhaps have a photo, she flatly refused, claiming she doesn't provide them and that I’d have to go see a specialist at a private clinic—which apparently costs about $133. To make matters worse, when I found out she gave every single photo and even let my friend listen to the heartbeat, I just broke down—I was crying like it was a rainy day in Seattle. It feels like such a disaster, especially since I had been looking forward to these milestones so much.

That is just straight-up gross.... seriously. And man, that feeling when you hear that little heartbeat for the first time? There's nothing like it. I used to tear up every single time at the start of my pregnancies.... What kind of OB is that? Are you even paying for Blue Cross? My doctor takes $33 from me every time, but she always hands over at least 2, 3, or 4 photos

Well, I don't pay anything extra—even though I don't carry supplemental insurance—but then again, my friend didn't have any either. Though, she did mention that her doctor doesn't perform them, yet hers does... it feels a bit pointless, if you ask me. It hit me pretty hard because this is my first baby, and I find myself constantly obsessing over every little thing online—I just feel this desperate need to know every tiny detail about the process... 😁 When my husband saw how upset I was, he told me he'd drive me straight to a different OBGYN right away, but I eventually calmed down... besides, my doctor is based out of Arlington...

Sophia Walker89.. this might sound silly, but honestly? I’d suggest finding a new doctor. That kind of attitude toward a pregnant woman is just... a disaster. Like, please, if she already did an ultrasound, what's it going to cost her to just give you the printout?? Or maybe turn on the speakers so you can actually hear the heartbeat??

Unbelievable!!👎

I have a gynecologist who I wouldn't say I'm totally thrilled with, but at every single appointment, I've gotten at least two or three photos if I asked. And if I wanted to hear the heartbeat, she'd let me (they don't always seem to remember that part)... and if we weren't listening through the ultrasound, she'd use one of those little handheld monitors on my stomach so I could hear it that way too. Man, that was the most important thing to me!!

And yeah, she doesn't even charge me extra for the ultrasounds, even though she has a private practice too..

🙂 For crying out loud... Seriously, just go see someone else. This one totally screwed you over, and those are the kind of moments that stick with you—probably forever! She had no business treating you like that, especially if she's handing out photos to other patients. What kind of principle is that? She explicitly said she doesn't do that!
Don't let her push you around!

Hey there, mamas-to-be 🙂
I’ve been sitting here laughing and crying at the same time. I’ve read through so much stuff on here, but honestly? I just feel so incredibly alone in what I’m going through right now...
So, here’s the deal: I’m 21 weeks along, and my entire world has basically flipped upside down since I found out. People I actually considered "friends" started hitting me with those nasty comments way back in the first trimester—you know, the "oh, you're gonna lose your figure" type of crap. And now that my bump is finally showing? It’s almost hysterical how they react (seriously, WHAT?!?!?!). Especially when my husband is standing right there with me, they try to belittle me by pointing out how "thin" they are, implying that I’ve just "let myself go" or whatever. Like, really? Those are just the tip of the iceberg. Don't even get me started on the people suggesting my husband is probably out looking for someone else because I’m "unattractive" now... It’s gross. On top of that, my family is being so unsupportive it hurts. My own mother actually looked me in the eye and said, "Don't think for a second I'm babysitting once the baby arrives; you have no clue what kind of responsibility this actually is." Excuse me? I’m 30 years old, I’ve had a career for a decade, and I’ve been running my own life with my husband for years. So, yeah... I feel absolutely terrible. Maybe I should be talking to a therapist instead of posting on a forum... but if anyone else has dealt with something similar, it would mean the world to hear some actual advice (and please, don't just tell me to "ignore them," because that's easier said than done...) 😢 😢 😢

Here’s what really gets under my skin: my husband and I have pets—specifically African crested geckos—and every single time we see someone, there’s always some busybody asking when we’re finally gonna get rid of them..
I honestly don't even know how to explain it, but I am so allergic to that kind of mindset. It’s like they think animals are just pieces of furniture you can toss out the second you get bored with them!!! 😠😠😠
But I absolutely adore them more than anything!!! 😍

And on top of that, people are constantly trying to suggest names for them. It's mostly my husband, since he’s stuck on those old-school family names that have been passed down for generations... 😠

And ETA, tell your friends to go jump in a lake or something, because I seriously cannot believe anyone would say something so insensitive to you!!
As for your husband, trust me, you are 100000000% more precious to him than any name suggestion ever could be!! 😉 😘

Yeah, this pet thing 😠
We have two cats. Just regular, healthy house cats. And people have been asking us—long before we even started thinking about having kids—what we’re going to do with the cats once we have a baby 😲
Like, what am I supposed to do with them?! Nothing! Just make sure they don't wander into the bedroom where the crib and everything else will be. Though, by the way, they haven't had access to the bedroom for ages anyway 🙄
It's like they're serial killers or something, man

😲 I honestly don't know what to say to those "friends" of yours, other than that I wouldn't want to be in the same room as them. They aren't friends. If you hadn't mentioned you were 30, I would have assumed we were talking about teenagers. In any case, please don't let their toxicity get under your skin; at least now you know who your real friends are. And forget the psychologist—don't stress yourself out, lady, you're growing a little human!😍 Just focus on your husband and your life; pretty soon you'll find yourself naturally gravitating toward other parents anyway... In the meantime, you have this forum, which has been indispensable to me!😁
