Which CPU should I get?

Greetings, here is my current setup...

It’s got 8GB of DDR3 RAM now... though it only had 4GB when I first picked it up...
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090...
Running an i3 2100 clocked at 3.1 GHz...
Power draw sits at around 420W...
The motherboard is a Gigabyte H61M-DS2V...

I'm looking for a processor that can handle modern games on medium settings. I have about... $667 I'm open to suggestions, though I suspect the CPU might be the bottleneck here... maybe we could look at a new CPU and GPU combo...

Wrong socket (you actually need an 1155). Your GPU is a massive bottleneck compared to your CPU, which is still holding its own. That said, I’m worried your power supply might be total junk for any serious graphics card—just pull up the model name on the PSU's spec sheet to check.
