White rectangle?

For over a week now, I’ve been dealing with this persistent white rectangle popping up over every single thread on this forum—it even blocks me from sending or receiving private messages. Occasionally, some bank advertisement flashes inside it, though it happens so fast I can barely make out what it is.
Since there is absolutely no way for me to manually dismiss this box—I just have to sit there and wait for it to disappear on its own—it’s pretty obvious the issue isn't with my PC.
So, what exactly am I looking at here?
Is this some kind of rogue, illegal advertising?
Or is it just a massive glitch within the forum itself?

And more importantly, how do I get rid of it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, what can you do? My Google Chrome decided to glitch out on me, and by the time I finally got things sorted, the edit option had vanished for about five hours; I just didn't feel like starting an entirely new thread over it. 🙂

I’m not entirely sure who is responsible for this change, but that white square is officially gone.
Now, instead, I’m seeing an ad from JPMorgan Chase—and get this—it actually has an option to dismiss it. That white void? It never offered anything like that!

So, I guess someone finally decided to "listen" to my complaints after all...
