Why was the masculinity thread locked?

So, I started a thread over in Politics about masculinity—basically just using the same logic as the threads on feminism—and the whole thing was nuked immediately. Why? And who exactly is pulling the trigger on these deletions?

If we’re allowed to have discussions about feminism, why isn't there space for masculinity?

If we get to talk about discrimination against women, why can't we talk about discrimination against men?🤷

Why is discussing the status of women perfectly fine, but talking about the status of men is off-limits?

It's ridiculous. We've exhausted the topic of feminism, yet those threads are always permitted. There are endless posts about women's issues and discrimination, yet the second someone tries to discuss discrimination against men, someone shuts it down instantly.

It's ridiculous. We've exhausted the topic of feminism, yet those threads are always permitted. There are endless posts about women's issues and discrimination, yet the second someone tries to discuss discrimination against men, someone shuts it down instantly.

There’s already plenty written about feminism, so this topic feels redundant.
Though I agree that some kind of movement is needed—not necessarily for "rights," but to ensure men actually stay men, because the Western man is becoming increasingly feminized.
The average European and American guy is now catching up to women when it comes to manicures, pedicures, Botox, and fillers; they even know all the actors from Sex and the City by heart. Meanwhile, fewer and fewer men actually know how to change a lightbulb or swap out a tire.
Not really the point, but: Last summer near Lourdes, a group of Americans spotted a snake by the side of the road. We grew up catching those things with our bare hands and scaring the old folks, but these guys were screaming like twelve-year-old girls. One of them even started crying. And they were somewhere between 25 and 40 years old.🙄

But no, it’s not the same thing, and there was no reason to delete it. If you're going to leave a "feminism" thread up where the opening post claims feminism is a hate movement, then why was my thread wiped? My post wasn't about masculinity, and I want an explanation for why it was removed. Saying it belongs in the feminism discussion isn't a good enough answer, because that's not where this conversation belongs.
The movement is already out there, and I don't see any reason why we can't talk about it!

The reason is actually pretty simple. See, they aren't allowed to start threads like that because they don't have a uterus. We have them, which makes us more capable—obviously. And we get to ramble about whatever we want. Who's saying this? Me. And when I say something, it’s just accepted as gospel without needing any fancy arguments or deep dives. Period. We’re just better at everything. All because of the uterus. For instance, just based on the fact that I possess a womb, I am ten times more skilled at handling a clothes iron or a spatula than my husband is.

Poor guy can't even figure out how to run the washing machine without me. Not to mention, his attempt at separating whites from colors looks like some messy, chaotic abstract painting. And you really think guys like that should be allowed to open topics on forums like this??? Yeah, no way! Absolute amateurs. Honestly, if you asked me, I'd ban all of them. Every last one! And if this house of mine wasn't such a massive, cluttered mess, I’d slap him harder than Lady Gaga used to slap her exes. No joke. I'm serious. Women power! Copyright by north wind.

I went ahead and deleted that thread for you. In my view, that kind of content belongs in the women's corner, not in politics. We already have a dedicated section for feminism on the politics board; having another one here is just redundant. Head over to the women's corner—you can go to the men's corner too, if you want—and write as much as you like about feminism or whatever else is on your mind.

Standard forum etiquette usually dictates that you move a thread in these situations rather than just nuking it entirely.

By the way, if we’re deciding that a discussion on masculinity belongs in the "women's corner," I suppose by that logic, a thread about feminism belongs in "Politics"? Because, interestingly enough, that specific thread hasn't been deleted... 😕

Besides, we already have a dedicated thread on feminism under Politics, so having yet another one seems completely redundant.

The argument here is essentially saying that "the masculinity thread is nothing more than just another feminism thread." In other words, the implication is that "masculinity = feminism." Which, thirdly, calls into question certain... competencies...

This isn't some debate over whether men are under threat.

It’s actually a debate regarding why feminism gets its own dedicated thread under "Politics," while discussions on masculinity get wiped out under the pretext that "we already have a feminism thread." If you don't feel like arguing about that either—well, the solution is pretty obvious and right at your fingertips.

Furthermore, there are two ways to look at this: anyway, I think the whole site should just shut down.

The question was pretty straightforward for anyone who actually understands how these forums work. If there are a million threads about feminism in the politics section, then a thread like this should exist too.
