Man, I picked up this HP Pavilion G7, and it came with Windows 7 64-bit pre-installed, but obviously, I had to wipe it and reinstall Windows because I like doing things my own way. I’ve done this a million times before without any issues, but for the first time ever, I’m staring at a screen where I can't see the Wi-Fi adapter anywhere. Everything else is running perfectly fine, but no driver in the world seems to fix it—I even tried the official one from the HP site and nothing. It was working totally fine right before I reinstalled everything, so I'm stuck. Can someone please help me out here... what the hell could be going on?

Just hunt down the driver by looking up the vendor and device ID right in Device Manager. Seriously, even if your damn base isn't working, this will get it done. 🙂

Bryan Rivera83 I can't believe I even have to say this, but apparently, we're still stuck listening to this nonsense like it's actually worth something.
Look, just go into Device Manager and hunt down the driver using the vendor and device ID, especially when your damn base isn't even working. 🙂

Can you actually explain what a vendor ID and a device ID even are?

Just try copying those hardware IDs into a Google search—you'll probably find the right driver that way.

You might want to double-check your BIOS settings just to make sure the Wi-Fi option hasn't been disabled there.

Man, where the hell is that setting even located? Seriously, can someone just look it up and tell me? It’s possible this happened because I ran some BIOS update driver earlier and who knows, maybe that mess totally screwed everything up...

Look, BIOS isn't hardware, so you don't exactly install a driver for it. Every motherboard comes with its own specific BIOS version that you might need to "flash" if you're looking for exactly the right update for that specific board revision. If you try to flash the wrong version, you're looking at a bricked PC that won't even boot, or at least some of your hardware stops working entirely... plus, it's totally normal for all your settings to reset to "default" after a mess like that. You can find the instructions in your manual on how to tap into the BIOS during those first few seconds after you hit the power button—sometimes it even tells you what key to hit right on the splash screen. The manual should also cover how to toggle the Wi-Fi via the keyboard...

ps: if the Wi-Fi is disabled in the BIOS, it's not going to show up in the Maid Manager, and you wouldn't even be able to attempt installing a driver for it anyway.
