I could really use some advice here 🙂
Yesterday, I finally got around to installing a TP-LINK wireless network card—the TL-WN751ND (that 150Mbps Wireless N PCI Adapter kind)—into my desktop machine.
The issue, however, is that my signal strength is absolutely abysmal; we're talking anywhere from a measly 12% to maybe 26% at best. Now, the crux of the matter is the layout of my place: there are two bathrooms sitting right between the router and this computer—which means two walls packed with plumbing and water—so I’m assuming that’s what’s killing my signal. I can't exactly just shuffle the router around, since the DirecTV box and another PC are hardwired to it in the living room. I did consider picking up a Wi-Fi repeater, but honestly, it's a bit pricey for my current budget, so I was wondering if there might be a cheaper workaround—something just to get me through this stretch? Also, even if I eventually grab a repeater and set it halfway between the room and the router, will that bathroom wall still act as a massive roadblock for the signal?
