Windows 10 activation issues

So, I just got hit with a notification saying my Windows activation key is about to expire,
I’ve had this laptop for seven months now since getting a fresh OS install, but apparently, nobody actually 'deactivated' the old license... Back when I was using XP or Windows 7, I remember you could just sort of shut that off—you'd download something and then it wouldn't expire anymore—but I'm a bit lost with Windows 10. Is there a setting for this somewhere? Honestly, I really don't feel like staring at that annoying "your license has expired" pop-up every single time I open something, not to mention the fact that I won't be able to customize anything... 🤦

I know we aren't supposed to talk about piracy on this forum, but you can actually find legitimate keys on eBay for as low as 20-$$8.25. I’ve picked up a few myself—for me, some neighbors, and a couple of friends—and they work perfectly fine. You just pay via credit card, and the seller sends the key directly to your eBay inbox, and that's really it. Just make sure you check the seller's profile first; you definitely want someone with a high positive feedback rating to be safe.

I managed to fix it, though I don't think it's anything illegal. It was just using some kind of activation tool that basically extends the life of an already activated version of Windows if it's about to expire... it's not throwing any more errors at me now.

It looks like the program's set up to reactivate every six months... which means you'll probably get another notification popping up in about half a year asking you to do it all over again 🙂 but honestly, having to deal with that once every six months isn't really a huge deal, right? 😁

Looks like this didn't work either. Now I'm seeing that annoying activation prompt down there... guess I'll just have to buy it properly. 😠

eBay, maybe $2 or $3, works just fine.
