Windows won't boot after backup

Hi everyone! I could really use some urgent help here 🙂
So, here is the situation: I decided to run a backup using Clonezilla because I was planning to install Ubuntu alongside my existing setup. The backup itself seemed to complete without any issues, but now I’ve hit a major snag—I can't boot into Windows at all. I keep getting an error message saying the repair failed, and no matter what I try—whether it's a system reset or other troubleshooting steps—nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how I can get back into Windows? Should I be looking into drivers? If so, where would those be located, and which specific ones should I be selecting? This was my first time diving into something like this, and now I feel completely stuck. For context, I am running Windows 8.

Honestly, your best bet is just handing it off to someone who knows how to fix it.

Maybe you could try popping in an installation DVD or a USB stick and starting a fresh Windows installation, but instead of clicking install, just click repair on the left... though, I guess Microsoft designed the last few OS versions to be pretty much standalone on the disc, so maybe you can't run Ubuntu alongside it... at least that's my guess...

Well, you can just head over to the Microsoft help site and grab the Media Creation Tool... once you've got that tool, you can download the Windows files, get everything official and all that...

Just burn it onto a USB stick or a DVD

I mean, obviously, that's assuming you actually have another computer handy... because if you don't have a second PC, you're probably gonna have to lug your stuff over to a repair shop somewhere

Just restore the backup. I don't get it... I've restored backups a thousand times and they always work perfectly. Not just with Clonezilla or
Monster, but with
the backup software used by some hospitals—maybe even all of them—over in Germany.

I finally dropped my laptop off at the repair shop today... and as it turns out, they also discovered a little issue with my RAM... oh well, I suppose it was bound to happen eventually!
