WinZip

Alright, so I’ve got a massive headache here. I just downloaded this huge 1.8GB zip file, but when I actually open it up, there’s absolutely nothing inside. It’s just empty. But get this—when I check the properties, it still says the size is 1.8GB. Like, what even is that? Does anyone have any clue how to actually unpack this thing? Thanks...

It’s looking like this one is probably a fake, or at least the file itself has gotten corrupted along the way!!

It’s pretty likely the file is encrypted, so you won't see a thing inside without the password.

But that’s the thing—it isn't even asking for a password or throwing an error code or anything! I just try to open it and there's absolutely nothing there... just empty space. Makes zero sense.🤷

I'm just using WinZip on a standard zip folder...

Maybe try unpacking that using 7-Zip.

It’s a .rar extension.

But I’m totally stumped because when I check the properties, it says the damn thing is 1.85 GB, yet there isn't a single file inside. It makes zero sense to me. I even tried mounting it with something like Daemon Tools, but absolutely nothing happens...

It's a total fake. Next time, maybe check the .nfo or .txt files included with the torrent before you hit download.🙂

I tried opening a compressed file today and it just won't budge. I'm getting an error that says: archives not found. My buddy ran into the exact same thing, but everything seems to be working fine on his end. It’s for a game. I was using WinZip 🤷

Try opening it with WinZip. I guess people are still talking about 7-Zip. It’s fine, I suppose. Just another utility in the mix.. 🙂

Anyone got a hand?

I've got this 7.5 GB ISO file and I'm trying to pack it into WinZip—but I need it split into at least two parts so I can burn it onto two separate DVDs. Hopefully you guys get what I'm driving at. If anyone can help me out, thanks. 🙂

It’s pretty straightforward, really. You just jump into the WinZip options and set it to split the files across two DVDs:



Or, I guess you could always just use a little utility like HJSplit if you want to handle the splitting and joining separately. 🙂
