X-Men 2 (2003)

For those of you planning on catching X-Men 2, what are you all expecting?

I’ve been watching the trailers and doing some digging online, and honestly, I think I’m going to enjoy this one even more than the first film—and keep in mind, I’m a total X-Men geek.

I have fond memories of the first installment; it was a pure, unadulterated superhero flick—action, high-tech gadgets, just cool stuff. It was genuinely great. I honestly can't wrap my head around why so many people are calling it garbage. Come on, people, that cast was incredible and the movie really sticks with you, right down to your core!

I’m expecting nothing less than excellence from this sequel. I can hardly wait to get into the theater before the lights even dim...

I’ve been counting down the minutes until I can see X-Men 2 ever since I walked out of the theater after the first one.

Honestly, that first movie is easily one of the best sci-fi superhero flicks out there.

It was a little slow in parts, I guess, but I don't really see that as a flaw since it had to set the stage for everything else.

My expectations for this sequel are huge—I'm really hoping this turns out to be the "real" X-Men experience.

The only thing that's got me a bit worried is the plot. I heard some rumors that the good mutants and the villains might briefly team up or something. To me, that feels kind of lame for a direct sequel, but hey, who knows.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

Everyone I know absolutely trashed the first one—including Melissa Myers5—but honestly? I think the movie is fine.
The story holds up well enough since it’s a comic book adaptation after all, the VFX look solid, and Woolmarine totally crushed it.
I’m just hoping the sequel manages to top this one.

I mean, let’s be honest here—when you start putting a movie in the same conversation as the Transporter, you’re already setting the bar in a very specific, very questionable place. It’s almost like comparing a lukewarm cup of diner coffee to a premium espresso; one just doesn't carry the weight of the other, no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise. I remember sitting in a theater back in Chicago years ago, watching this kind of mid-tier action flick, thinking about how we settle for mediocrity just because it's flashy. If we're measuring quality against something like that, we might as well not even bother with the critique.

Halle Berry is quite striking, isn't she? She practically looks like a Dark Elf from D&D—white hair, black and white eyes, dressed in that dominatrix leather look... Mmmmmmm!!!

But hey, say whatever you want, I think Ana Paquin is incredible. She is just soooooo cuuuuuuuute!!! 😛 🙂 🙂

I finally caught it today. I have to admit, I actually liked it. It doesn't give me those bad vibes you get from movies like Spider-Man.

Sure, the plot and everything else is standard fare for an action flick, but the action was great—and personally, I thought the story held up just fine.😁

Has anyone else seen this yet, or am I just shouting into the void here?

(And please, if you're one of those people who only watches "serious" cinema, stay away. My liver can't handle the judgment, especially since it's already struggling enough from all the vodka.😁

I caught it on May 1st at a local pub downtown with my old classmates. The movie was decent, but during those last 15 minutes, I just lost it—I couldn't stop grinning like a total goofball. I have no idea what came over me! There was this little gap near the drink holder, so I grabbed my Jamnica and started pretending I was flying a plane.😁
But seriously, why isn't it written X-Men?

Spelling doesn't even matter here. You can see the guy posted this at 5 AM; if I were typing at that hour, it would look like total gibberish, let alone worrying about grammar.

Anyway, I’m getting ready to watch a movie today and I'm actually pretty stoked. (Truth is, I'm mostly just excited to see Famke Janssen, but I shouldn't say that out loud, so there's the disclaimer.)
