I’m not even sure if this belongs here, but I honestly have no clue where else to dump this.
So, here’s the situation.
I’ve got an old Xbox 360 Slim, 120GB, running some custom software. Lately, the thing has been running incredibly hot—like, so hot that after about an hour of gaming, it just shuts itself down mid-session.
Whenever I’d boot it back up, it would run a system restore and then seem fine enough to play again.
But the last time it died on me, things went south. It tried to run the restore, failed, restarted, tried the restore again... it just got stuck in this endless, pathetic loop.
I figured I'd try to fix it myself, so I pulled the hard drive, hooked it up to my PC, and wiped it completely. When I popped it back into the console, it told me it needed a format, which I did. But once it rebooted, it claimed there was no firmware installed and demanded I install version 4.78 or higher.
I downloaded 4.78, let it go through the preparation phase, and once it hit 100%, it was supposed to restart. That’s where everything fell apart.
Now, there’s absolutely nothing on my TV screen. My TV recognizes that the console is powered on, but it’s just blackness. No signal, nothing.
The green light on the Xbox 360 is on, and when I hold down the power button, I can hear those familiar beeps, but still—nothing on the screen.
Does anyone actually know what happened here? Is there a fix for this, or am I just looking at a paperweight that I should probably sell for parts on eBay?
