I have been using VLC Media Player for quite a long time now, but over the last few months, this one incredibly irritating issue has started cropping up.

Every single time I sit down to watch a movie, the video starts lagging behind the audio when I switch to full screen. It is like watching a dubbed movie where the lips just don't match the words—it's maddening! I honestly have no clue what is causing this, and despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to find a fix 🙂
I have spent hours scouring Google and reading through endless forums, but so far, nothing has worked.
This is my absolute favorite player; it's my go-to for everything, so I really don't want to ditch it for something else if I can help it.

If anyone out there knows how to solve this, please, I am begging for some help.

Now, there is also this secondary nuisance that actually led me to downgrade to an older version of VLC Media Player (Home Max 8.00).
With version 9 or anything newer, whenever I'm halfway through a film or a series, the screensaver kicks in after just a few minutes. It makes it impossible to just sit back and enjoy the show unless I go into my settings and disable the screensaver entirely.

Have you tried throwing a different player at this—just to see if the issue follows you there too? Does this happen with pretty much every video you try to run? I mean, regardless of the format, like avi, wmv, mp4, or mkv?

Also, you might as well just kill that screensaver entirely—it’s not like it’s actually doing anything useful for you anyway. 🙂

It doesn’t happen with every single video, but it feels like it happens with roughly 98% of them.
When I’m sitting down to watch 1080p movies—not even talking about massive Blu-ray rips, just those files around 2GB—sometimes they play fine in full screen, but most of the time? Not at all. I end up having to exit full screen and manually shrink the window until the audio and video finally decide to sync up. It’s incredibly frustrating because, well, you can't exactly enjoy the movie 😢
On the other hand, when I’m watching TV series, regardless of how large the file size is, heaven forbid I try to switch to full screen...

I actually went through the trouble of testing the exact same series using MPC-HC, BS Player, Windows Media Player, and Zoom. Only in Zoom is the audio completely out of sync; every other player handles full screen perfectly without a hitch.
So, it clearly isn't a Windows issue; the problem lies squarely with Zoom.

Which specs are we actually talking about here? Maybe your PC or laptop just isn't quite up to the task of running this.

So, it’s clearly not a Windows issue—it's just a straight-up Zoom player problem.

Man, just try uninstalling it and grabbing a newer version of Zoom.

Joshua Garcia3 said:What kind of setup are we even talking about here? It sounds like maybe your PC or laptop just isn't powerful enough to handle the load.

Intel Core i5 2430m CPU 2.40
4GB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 7470m Windows 7 Ultimate

It is absolutely not too weak.

That shouldn't be underpowered at all. So why aren't you just running the latest version of Zoom Play Player like Benjamin King2 suggested? You could just turn off that screensaver if it's causing issues.

I was running the latest 9.02 version, but honestly, I’m hitting the exact same wall with it. It’s like the video freezes up while the audio keeps playing! That is precisely what I'm dealing with here.

As for that other issue, I’ll just go ahead and disable the screensaver; that should be fine.
