I just downloaded Windows 7, but now I’m totally lost on how to actually burn it. I tried burning the files to a disc, but when I try to boot from it, nothing happens. It’s just not working. I feel like I messed up the whole process and burned all the files wrong... what am I doing wrong here?

Maybe you just need to head into your Control Panel and toggle on the show All folders and Automatically expand options in your Folder options?😁

Well, what you downloaded has to be an image file. You need to burn that image onto a DVD using some burning software—maybe Nero, for instance. You’d basically select "Burn image," find your Windows 7 file, click Open, and then click Burn. That should do it, I guess.🙂

Finally managed to get it working using UltraISO. 👍

So I just finished installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and now my boot times are absolutely pathetic. It’s taking like 5 minutes before I can even touch anything, whereas when I was running the 32 bit version, the damn thing would be up and running in seconds. What the hell happened? Why is it crawling like this?

I was trying to get Microsoft Security Essential up and running, but I keep hitting this wall where the installer claims my Windows isn't genuine. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've heard it's actually a pretty solid antivirus right now...

Hey everyone,

I'm running into an issue while trying to install Windows 7. When I attempt to run the install from a Windows XP interface, it hits 93% and then kicks back this error:

Windows cannot copy files required for installation. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070001

Any ideas? I heard running a check disk might help, but that didn't do anything.

The OS isn't official; a buddy gave me a copy that he installed without any trouble.

Thanks in advance.

Why on earth is it booting so slowly now? What could be causing this headache?

Have you made sure to install the 64-bit versions of the drivers for all your components? Also, is AHCI enabled in your BIOS?

The installation disc itself is an original, but using it without a license is definitely piracy!

Maybe try burning the files onto a different DVD? What kind of DVD drive are you working with?

I find myself facing a rather vexing dilemma regarding my installation of Windows 7. It seems I am unable to open any folders whatsoever; whenever I attempt to do so, the system insists that a specific program is missing. For instance, if I navigate to My Computer, I am met with an error when trying to access either the C: or D: drives, and the situation remains equally frustrating when I try to open anything within my Documents folder. Has anyone else encountered such a peculiar malfunction?😕😕😕

Turns out I figured out the issue. The DVD was being transferred at high speeds, and when I tried copying the contents to my PC, it threw an error. I'll just grab a new DVD and everything should work fine.

Thanks for the help anyway.

For example, if I try to open My Computer, I can't even get into Local Disk C or D. Same thing happens with Documents; I can't open a single subfolder in there. Has anyone dealt with anything like this??😕😕 😕

Look, you need to actually specify which program is supposedly "missing." If you provide that info, maybe someone here can actually help you out.

You probably caught some kind of virus.

Does it work for you if you just type c: or c:\windows\ directly into the address bar?

Yes, that’s precisely how it behaves. However, I’ve run into a rather vexing issue whenever I attempt to open a folder: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the
." It seems quite absurd, really. I am quite certain my system isn't compromised by any malicious software, as I've already taken the liberty of running thorough scans with two different antivirus programs, and they both came up completely clean!

Just grab Malwarebytes and run a full scan on it.
When you pull up the C: drive like that, do you see an autorun.inf file hanging around anywhere?

I ran a full scan with Malwarebytes, and honestly, it came up completely clean—not a single suspicious file or any sign of an autorun script in sight. So, I’m left scratching my head over this rather peculiar technical hiccup: why on earth would I be able to access the directory through File Explorer, yet find myself utterly thwarted when I simply attempt a standard double-click on the folder itself?

I honestly have no clue if I installed everything right... and how am I supposed to check if AHCI is active? It doesn't just tell me, does it?

Man, just burn it again using UltraISO. Honestly, that was my exact issue—my disc was slightly scratched so it couldn't load everything properly. Just burn Windows onto a fresh disc and you'll be fine!
