That's really all I care about😁
everything else is pretty much irrelevant to me

Tigers, you already manage to install win 7 on your rig yet?👍

I'm holding off because I don't have a flat-rate plan yet. I'm planning to jump on it as soon as the first billing cycle hits, otherwise, I'd be short those 570MB, but that date is still a long way off. 👍

Basically, if you're looking at grabbing an extra gig through an AT&T data add-on, it's going to cost you $97 😬

In other words, grabbing an extra gig through an AT&T data package is basically just $97 😬

It's just not worth it 😁

I pretty much screwed up almost everything while trying to download movies 😁 so yeah, I'm just waiting on the first one too.👍

...whether we're talking about being current or performing an update, what you're really touching upon is that broad, somewhat ambiguous sense of the word—a term that, if we're being honest, really just traces its roots back to those pesky Anglo-Saxon linguistic imports like "updating," which essentially means bringing something, whether it be matter or a specific phenomenon, into its current, standard state,

...which is basically what your brain perceives when you reduce all this complexity down to the rather banal and vulgar level of everyday usage: just the common tech slang for having an "updated" operating system.

I think we might have wandered off into the Linguistics subforum 😂😂😂

Just stick with T-Mobile then.
People just don't get that T-Mobile and Verizon are total rip-offs. You can easily go twice as cheap with someone else like Optima, AT&T, Comcast, or Verizon... and honestly, the quality is pretty much the same everywhere...

...to "update," in its broadest sense, is just one of those beautifully ambiguous American terms—though, let’s be honest, its roots really just stem from those pesky Anglo-Saxon linguistic imports like "updating"... basically, it means bringing something, a piece of matter, or a specific phenomenon, back into its current, standard state.

.. what your brain likely processes as mere daily internet chatter—which, unfortunately, boils down to the banal and vulgar level of actual usage—is nothing more than the mindless linguistic jargon for an "updated" computer system.

Frog, thanks for the exhaustive lecture. If you're feeling particularly generous, maybe you could explain what "internet chatter" actually is? I’d love to find the American root for that—I have a weird suspicion it might just be another Anglo-Saxon import.

Hey everyone,

I've run into an issue with my Windows 7 setup.
Installation went smoothly enough and I managed to find all the network drivers, so everything seems fine there.

The catch is the graphics. I can't play any games that used to run perfectly on XP.
It feels like I'm missing a specific driver.
Any advice on how to fix this? Also, when I do manage to launch a game, it runs like some kind of basic software rather than a real application.
Intel 865 G graphics card
Help requested.

Thanks in advance.

So, your keyboard isn't performing exactly how you'd like? 😁 You should probably hunt down the drivers on the motherboard manufacturer's website—since we're dealing with integrated graphics here, that's really your best bet.

Alternatively, just grab a used AGP card for $33 maybe twenty bucks or something; honestly, it'll be a step up from that integrated mess regardless.

Listen, genius, I have 10GB for $50, and any overage is just $97 per MB. If I could actually get those rates elsewhere, you wouldn't find me sitting here with Verizon. Get a grip,
. I'd never deal with AT&T—those liars claim they're the fastest, but I can outrun them with my own speed tests whenever I feel like it.😛

Does anyone know where I can grab that Windows 7 interface for XP? I'm just looking to get those translucent window effects back.

Problem Event Name: BlueScreen

Out of nowhere, my computer just shuts down and throws this error. What could be causing this? Is anyone else dealing with the same thing?

Taylor Morales31 said:"up to date"—you know, updating, refreshing, or just bringing things current to the present moment, basically this stuff here😛

Nah: it actually includes some new features on top of the usual patches we've seen—which explains why the service pack itself is such a beast, weighing in much heavier than just a bunch of individual updates rolled into one in MBs,

The first thing you'll likely notice is a faster boot time, maybe by 10-15 seconds, and if you want the full breakdown of what's new, you can probably find a complete list online somewhere

It's really just what Benjamin King2 said, and that's that—as for any supposed speed boosts, there's nothing concrete there; those are all just subjective opinions...

The message is way too vague; there could be several different causes: Resolving stop (blue screen) errors in Windows 7

Personally, I haven't run into a single Blue Screen of Death in over a year of using Windows 7.

Honestly, you might as well just wipe your drive and install a new OS,
because trying to force everything on XP to look like Windows 7 ends up being way more demanding than just running Windows 7 itself in the first place.

So, I'm currently running Windows XP... and I'm looking to make the jump to Windows 7. My big question is: will I actually be able to play some of those newer titles that usually run on XP—think things like FIFA 11, Mafia 2, Assassin's Creed, and so on—using my current hardware setup? Here's what I'm working with:

Motherboard: Intel DP965LT
CPU: Intel Core 2 duo E6320 @ 1.86GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR2
Graphics Card: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4670 512mb

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!🙂

Grab another 1 or 2 GB of RAM. Otherwise, I guess you'll just have your disk constantly thrashing through the page file.

Intel® Desktop Board DP965LT

Since this board has 4 DIMM slots and caps out at 8GB, you might as well "fill the gaps." 😉

Do you think this rig will at least handle some lighter games compared to the ones listed here?

Look, if your games are running fine on Windows XP, they’ll work on Windows 7 too—it's not rocket science—you just need to cram a bit more RAM into the system to keep things smooth.

And let's be honest, this recession is hitting hard... there's just no way I can swing more RAM right now... It’s been obvious for ages that I need an upgrade, but finding the extra cash to make it happen? That's a different story altogether.
