TOSHIBA TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Select Satellite, then Satellite L40, and finally Satellite L40-14H from the drop-down menus

OS: Windows XP; Language: English (you should see about 22 drivers listed here)

1) First things first, download the Installation Instructions (read them closely—you’re going to need to)
2) Next, grab the Intel storage manager (it's roughly 21 MB)

The manual mentions installing a specific driver via floppy disk, but honestly, a USB stick should do the trick just fine.

Check page 16 of 29. It breaks down exactly which files from that storage manager you need to move over to your USB drive. After that, it walks you through the Windows XP installation.

FOLLOW THE MANUAL TO THE LETTER 🙂

Nah... I'm basically being held hostage by this floppy disk... 👎
I've got everything else ready to go and I totally have the procedure down, but honestly, without that damn floppy, I'm stuck.

@gentlemarlin102/">@@gentlemarlin102, you should probably try slipstreaming those drivers, just search Google for 🙂

So, quick question though—why do you even need Windows XP? It might actually be a way better idea to just run it as a virtual machine instead. Just some food for thought 😉

My Bluetooth is totally dead... I can't even get the driver to work on Windows 7... 🤷

I'm gonna try running this through a VM... 🙂

My Toshiba laptop only seems to recognize the official Toshiba external USB floppy drive. I actually wasted quite a bit of time messing around with that issue once before, only to have the technicians at an authorized service center tell me what the problem was after the fact. 🙂

Edit: If you do manage to track down those drivers, it might be a smarter move to just slip them right onto your Windows XP installation CD using a tool like nLite.

I think I'll give this VirtualBox thing a shot... 🙂

If you're absolutely certain that Bluetooth is dead (like, you've actually tried all the official drivers), then that's it—just go grab a new one 🙂

Wait, what exactly are we talking about here?

A virtual machine won't help you with something like that. I thought we were talking about a specific software program that won't run on Windows 7, because if a program doesn't work on Windows 7, it definitely won't work on a virtual machine[/.I]

Everything was working fine until I switched over to Windows 7... 🤷

Basically, I managed to get XP running on a virtual machine, so I'm gonna test if it actually works tomorrow... 😉
Do I need to bother installing drivers (like graphics or sound...) on that virtual setup?🤷

No need, that part is already built-in.
And honestly, don't bother trying—it just won't work that way. This Windows XP you’ve got running thinks it's sitting on its own dedicated machine, but it's actually just being emulated through software (maybe VirtualBox?) which handles all the graphics, sound, mouse, keyboard, and everything else. So, while things that work on your actual PC hardware might work in the virtual environment, it doesn't work the other way around since the virtual setup isn't directly connected to your physical hardware.

so how am I supposed to get Bluetooth working without shelling out for a whole new rig? 🤷

Wait, what kind of adapter are we even talking about here?

Honestly, just go ahead and install that XP setup. You can just slipstream the drivers using nLite, and just be careful during the installation process so you don't mess up the boot menu. A quick Google search should clear that part right up for you. 🙂

I'm pretty sure everything you need is tucked away right here:

Give it a read. 😁

Here’s what it looks like http://airdump.cz/files/airliveBT-201USB.jpeg

As for this part, I honestly have no clue how to work it, and I don't even have the driver handy... 🙂

I'm gonna try to grab a different Bluetooth adapter and see if that does the trick...🙂

Thanks, everyone! 👍

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I don't have permission to start a new thread—so, PLEASE HELP! ((

Guys, I really need some help here. I’m running Windows 7 Ultimate, and everything was working perfectly until yesterday morning. I turned on my computer, entered my login credentials, and suddenly got hit with this message: User Profile Service service failed the logon "User profile cannot be loaded." I had to log in through my brother's account—which doesn't have a password—just to try and fix mine. But when it asks for my actual password (since he's an admin), the screen just refreshes without letting me type anything. I even tried digging through the C: drive user folders to fix it myself, but no luck. Please, I am begging you—help! I desperately need access to the files on my profile. 😕😲😠

So, just like the title implies—is there any way to actually get Windows to recognize and utilize the full 4 GB of RAM I've got installed, rather than getting stuck at 3.5? And here’s the real kicker: does dual-channel mode even function properly if the system isn't actually tapping into all 4 GB?

Just as a quick side note—it's DDR2 memory, in case that changes the math for anyone looking at this.

It's DDR2, just in case that matters.

Windows 7 32-bit won't touch all 4 GB of RAM—it might see it, but it can't use it. If you want the full 4 GB, you gotta install a 64-bit OS. As for the dual channel stuff, that works regardless—as long as you've got a matched pair of sticks, obviously.

So, you’re suggesting I just go ahead and install 64-bit Windows? Honestly, I’ve definitely considered that route before—it’s a solid suggestion, really.

The thing is, I actually own a legitimate copy of x86 Windows—and man, looking back, I really should have given this much more thought when I was originally picking it up at the store!😢

And what kind of work actually requires 4GB of RAM? Or are you just saying that because it sounds good on paper? 👍

Heh... honestly, mostly just to keep things running smoothly for now. I was actually planning on picking up another 4GB—kind of like adding a second lane to a highway, you know?—but if I can't even make use of the 4GB I have already, there's really no point in throwing money down the drain, right? For the time being, this setup does the trick, but in a year or two? Yeah, it’ll definitely start feeling a bit sluggish.
