I downloaded some stupid Flash games recently, and my antivirus didn't flag a single thing. The games ran perfectly fine, so I honestly can't tell if they were the culprit, but I went ahead and uninstalled them and wiped everything just to be safe. At one point, I noticed my PC was working incredibly hard even though I didn't have any programs running. I figured something might be spinning in the background, so I pulled up Task Manager, but there was absolutely nothing suspicious showing up—everything looked totally normal. So, I thought, okay, let me run a scan with Avira. Everything came back clean, but my computer still feels sluggish. I decided to try a System Restore to go back to yesterday, but once it started the process and rebooted, it told me the restore failed! When it finally booted back up, I could tell right away that something was wrong with my desktop gadgets. They’re technically on the desktop, but they aren't visible at all. I tried disabling them and adding them back, then even tried uninstalling and reinstalling them, but nothing works. Then I realized my Windows Security service isn't running, and when I try to turn it back on, it just won't let me. I've already done deep scans with Avira, SUPERAnti spyware, and Malvar bytes, and they all say everything is fine. But the gadgets are still broken, and the Windows Security service is still stuck. I'm at a total loss here. Does anyone know what else I can try? Can anyone help?

just grab this:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml
run it to see which sound card you're actually rocking, then download the right driver.
The real question is—is it Soundmax or Realtek? Check with Everest and grab that specific driver, or just keep it simple and hit the driver update option straight from Windows 7; the OS should handle it automatically.

Or, once you've checked with Everest, you can just head over here, grab the drivers for XP or Vista, and run them through compatibility mode.

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Int...5PL2/#download

Thanks for the link, but right after I posted, I decided to try the driver for the P5PL2-E and—surprise, surprise—it worked. I don't want to brag about finding it, but thanks anyway.😉

Does anyone happen to know of any good themes for Windows 7? I'm looking for something similar to Hyperdesk, but ideally something that won't cost me a dime 😁

Hey everyone, 🙂 I'm looking to get my hands on Windows 7—mostly because I want to install it without wiping everything currently on my drive.
Can anyone walk me through how to handle this? I'm running Windows XP SP2 right now, and I need to know how to perform the upgrade so nothing gets deleted from the disk during the process.

You're being a little vague here. Are you looking to install Windows 7 alongside your existing XP setup so you've got both operating systems running on the machine, or...

...or maybe you're looking to upgrade from XP to 7 🤔

Since there isn't a dedicated thread for this, I figured I'd ask here: is it actually possible to run macOS on a PC?
I'm talking about the machine I currently have running Windows 7 😁
I’m no tech expert, but I’ve always been obsessed with the look and feel of macOS. I tried skinning my Windows 7 setup to look more like it, but let's be real—it looks nothing like the real thing. So, is there any way to actually get that OS onto a standard PC?

It’s technically possible to pull off, though I have to warn you that it’s a bit of a headache, and there's always that nagging risk that some of your hardware might start acting a little funky because of it. 🤷

You can find some really cool themes over here, you just have to sign up first.

It's actually doable to get macOS running on a standard PC. If you want the details, check out these resources:

I'm not exactly a tech expert, but I really love the look and feel of macOS. I tried applying some themes to make Windows 7 look more like it, but it just doesn't cut it. So, is there a way to get the actual OS onto a regular computer?

You can install macOS on a PC. You can find more details at:

If you want my advice, I would suggest installing OS X on a virtual machine first. There is free software called VirtualBox—you can set up virtual machines that perform reasonably well if you have at least 3GB of RAM, allowing you to allocate 1 or 1.5GB from the host.🙂
The best part is that you can run it in full-screen mode, making it feel like you aren't even running Windows underneath (which will slow things down slightly, though not significantly if your hardware is decent). This lets you test everything out as if it were a real computer. If you end up liking it, then you can look into a full installation on your hard drive.🙂

You conveniently left out the fact that VirtualBox can run macOS Server (Leopard, Snow Leopard) as a "guest OS" and even macOS Client (link) 😉as well.

So if I install Windows 7, I'll actually be running Windows 7, right?😲

Only if you go with a clean install 🙂

Honestly, looking at your questions, I’d probably let someone else handle this if I were you—someone who actually knows their way around a PC. 🙂

Maybe try Googling some tutorials first to see the difference between a clean install and just doing an upgrade on your current OS. 🙂

The best part? You can run it in full-screen mode and totally forget you're actually running Windows underneath (it might slow things down a touch, but not much if your rig is decent), letting you test-drive everything like it’s a real Mac. If you end up loving it, then go ahead and wipe the drive for a real installation 🙂

I was definitely planning on wiping the system anyway, so I figured I'd jump straight into installing Mac.
As for the specs:
I've got 2 gigs of RAM
an Intel Pentium Dual 2.00 x2 processor, 32-bit
a 250GB hard drive
and a Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card
