Have you even bothered to check that temp folder setting in your WinRAR options? Honestly, if it's not hiding in there, I have no clue where else it could be wandering off to.

Paul Lopez49 said:Seriously, when exactly is that supposed to happen during the week 😁? And shouldn't a simple file search find it regardless of whether it's tucked away in a hidden folder or not? 🤔

If the system isn't indexing it, it’s just not going to show up, plain and simple.

Go to Computer/Organize (top left)/Folder options/View tab: Show hidden files, folders, and drives

Benjamin King2 said:If you have that software installed at http://www.4t-niagara.com/tray.html, I'd suggest getting rid of it; it's frequently the culprit behind issues with that specific .dll file. Is Internet Explorer working okay for you? Have you tried using any other media player besides WMP?

Heh, yeah, I'll keep using it for now and just see if the issue persists after I uninstall that program.
I don't even use Internet Explorer because it's way too slow for me; I use Safari instead, and it works perfectly fine.
The problem happens regardless of which player I'm using, whether I'm trying to play music or movies.

Alright, I found it sitting in that temp folder 🙂 There were actually two copies; I ran the extraction once more, and this time the file appeared exactly where it was supposed to. It’s strange that it didn't show up earlier. 😕 I suppose it was just some sort of error or a system block. I went ahead and cleared out that extra backup in the temp directory.

Many thanks 🙂

Computer -> Organize (top left) -> Folder and search options -> View tab: Show hidden files and folders

That’s actually useful, thanks 🙂

I recently performed an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional, and while most of the system seems to be running smoothly, I’ve run into a frustrating issue with the audio. There is absolutely no sound coming through at all. I have spent quite a bit of time scouring various support forums and websites looking for a fix, yet nothing I have tried seems to work so far. It appears the system isn't even recognizing my Logitech speakers.

Check your Device Manager to see if the sound card is actually being recognized—specifically, look to see if there’s a little yellow exclamation mark next to it indicating a driver issue. Also, what kind of audio setup are we talking about here? Is it just an integrated chip on the motherboard or a dedicated adapter?
It could be anything from a setting tucked away in the BIOS that isn't enabled properly—I'm not sure which motherboard you're running—to a driver that simply didn't install right. You really need to verify that in the Device Manager first.
That should give you a starting point, and others will likely chime in with more ideas soon. Honestly, this might be better suited for a different thread; you'll probably get much faster help if you just start a new topic over at the IT Help service PDF section.

Should I also be checking under the "sound, video and game controllers" section for audio issues? I took a look there, and it claims "The device is working properly."
Well, if that's the case, I suppose I'll just have to pose the same question over on the official support forum...

Right-click the Computer icon on your desktop and go to Properties - Device Manager. If you don't see any yellow exclamation marks there, I guess that means the drivers are probably installed fine.
Maybe check it there.

There isn't a single exclamation point to be found here.

It doesn't really matter now; Chris Barrett5 was able to step in and help me out. My thanks to everyone else for the support

Hey there...
I was wondering if anyone knows how to set up a system monitor gadget (to track CPU, memory, GPU usage, etc.) so that it stays "always on top," especially while I'm playing games that don't support windowed mode...🤷
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.😁

I once turned off the setting that automatically maximizes a window when I drag it to the top of the screen, and now I can't seem to find where to toggle it back on.
I think I disabled it while I was messing around with the Ease of Access settings and a few other things.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Ah, I see what you mean now. It's called "Snap"—if you just type "snap" into the Windows search bar, it should take you right where you need to go...

Good grief, just double-click the top of the window. It does the exact same thing—why bother dragging it all the way across? 👍

True enough, I end up burning twice the energy just for two extra clicks 🙄

It’s also handy that I can "pull" them out of a maximized state—but if that setting is off, I’m stuck having to click manually again

True enough, but I’ve been using that double-click habit since the Windows XP days, if not even earlier, so it’s just muscle memory at this point. As for the energy consumption... I think I'll pass on commenting on that one, haha. 👍

Honestly, I find this much more intuitive; you just grab the window, drag it toward the top, and—boom—it’s maximized.
To bring it back from full screen, you simply grab the title bar and pull it back down.

It works the same way if you want to snap a window to fill half the screen, either left or right—I usually call that "semi-maximized." 🤣

Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature, along with many of the other features found in Windows Vista & Windows 7. I remember back when I was working in IT using Windows XP, I would get so completely disoriented whenever I had to switch back. Personally, I haven't touched Windows XP since 2007, right around the time Windows Vista first hit the market...

The same logic applies when you snap a window to fill half the screen (left or right side; I call that "half-maximized" 🤣)

And honestly? You get used to it incredibly fast (along with all those other features in Windows Vista & Windows 7). When I have to jump on an old machine running Windows XP (like at the college computer lab), I feel totally lost. It’s pathetic, really. I haven't touched Windows XP personally since 2007—basically since Vista first hit the scene...

Dragging things around isn't even an issue for me on a touchpad, and besides, I've been a double-click user for years. So, zero points here.👍

Does anyone know how to get my keyboard and mouse lights to actually turn off when I shut down my PC?
On my old Windows XP setup, everything would just go dark once the computer was off, but lately, they stay glowing.
