It usually takes about one business day—maybe three to five if things get backed up.

But listen, do you have that payment confirmation handy? Just snap a quick photo or scan it and send it over to him so he can see the funds actually cleared. There’s really no easier way than that.

I don't know, that's just what they told me when I called the Chase info line.

I have it, but the woman on the phone kept droning on about how, "under legal and banking regulations, a formal bank statement is the only authoritative proof of payment," or whatever she was trying to get at.

I'm going to try sending it anyway; I'll send it now and just see what happens.

That lady on the line is quite the "character." 😉 A receipt is a receipt—it’s just basic logic! It's like if you walked up to an AT&T service desk, paid your bill, and handed over the slip; any sane person would see that as absolute proof that the transaction went through.

done 😁
though I'm not nearly as bothered by that as I am by this 🤣

Whatever, I'll just give the guy a call and fax over the payment slip; hopefully, they'll actually accept it this time.

@ henmour: You won't see that reflected at an ATM right away. If you're moving money from a Chase branch in Chicago to one in New York, the ATM might take up to 24 hours to update your balance. But if you head into a branch or check your online banking for the New York account, the balance should show up within about 4 hours of your deposit. I guarantee it. image

This past summer, I was moving some cash over via wire transfer into my checking account at JP Morgan Chase (which, by the way, hits you with a 1% fee) around 10:00 AM... I honestly expected it to take a day or two to clear, but lo and behold... the money was already sitting in my account by that afternoon...

So, it should work just as fast for you too... since the funds are running through the exact same clearing system (the Fedwire network, right?)... It’s not like the money goes into some central government clearinghouse first and then slowly trickles down to JP Morgan Chase 😁 like it's trying to squeeze through a tiny little crack in the door.

Hey there!
I’ve got a quick technical question—is it going to be an issue if I put the wrong authorization number down, assuming everything else is totally correct?
I accidentally typed my ID number where the authorization code should have gone (it used to work that way, I guess?), but after I finished the payment, I realized they actually required a different number.
It's just for tuition.

Thanks! 🙂

It’s easy to say, but much harder to do.
Usually, it isn't a huge deal, unless their system automatically closes out payments before they can match yours to the specific reference number you used. If that happens, the payment won't show up on your account. But honestly, that’s just a minor headache you can sort out with one quick call to customer service. 😉

Is anyone actually getting their mail?

Because I'm out here trying to track my package down, but absolutely nothing is working. Total joke. 😁

It’s not really about the post office; it’s about the people you actually handed your money to. They're the ones who need to verify if the payment cleared correctly. 😁

On the post, just name the person you actually sent the money to. You know—the one whose account was the actual recipient... 😁

Aha. Got it. I probably won't be able to get a hold of them until tomorrow morning anyway, since they've already clocked out for the day. Thanks. 🙂

Yeah, true. Roughly how long does it take for the cash to actually hit if I sent it via the Post Office? I know those things usually drag their feet sometimes.

It really depends on what time of day the transfer was initiated, but honestly, you should see that money hit your account within two days.

I need to nag someone about transfer fees for a second...
I'm looking to move some cash from my checking account at JPMorgan Chase over to a checking account at Wells Fargo. What kind of commission am I looking at? Is there any way to dodge or lower the fee—maybe by withdrawing the cash from JPMorgan Chase, walking over to Wells Fargo, and just depositing it there? Thanks! 🙂

If you're using the mobile app (and don't have a dedicated card reader handy), then it's $0.67 ... doing it at a local branch costs you more, and if you just walk over there, it’s basically free 😁

If I want to deposit money into someone else's checking account at JP Morgan Chase, can I just walk up to the teller, give them the account number and a note, or am I stuck filling out a deposit slip?

If you're heading over to Chase to drop some cash into someone else's account at the same bank, all you really need is their name and account number.
I usually just bring a little scrap of paper with the person's name and their account number written down, and then the tellers handle everything else for me without me ever having to fill out a deposit slip, plus the money shows up in their account almost instantly...

Ugh, I just realized way too late that I need to renew my E-ZPass and pay up if I want to drive around without any issues! 😬
I finally sent the payment tonight, and I’m planning on using the toll roads this Sunday. What are the odds the funds actually clear by then? 😢
I’m guessing it’s pretty slim, but hey, is there any hope? 🙂

Oh wait, I just noticed—it's an internal transfer from Bank of America to Bank of America. Does that give me a better shot?

Weak. Weekends usually don't work for me. But there’s a 24-hour service desk over in Chicago where you can make a payment.
