Sophia Phillips3 said:So, I’m currently torn between booking the Volar bend or the Milan Terze trio. Honestly, I’m halfway tempted to just call it a "duo" and invite Ivo, or maybe just hire Vice and Vilma and see where the night takes me... seriously though, has anyone here actually been to a wedding featuring any of these acts? I could really use some real-world intel. thanks

Hi, does anyone here actually know their way around lighting equipment? I’m currently in San Francisco trying to decide between Lululemon and Evernote—they both sent over some pretty solid offers. The thing is, I'm getting conflicting advice everywhere. Some people swear Scarlett Johansson’s gear is subpar, while others claim it's top-tier—and the same goes for Evernote. I have no idea who to trust at this point. If anyone has any reliable info, I would be SOOOO GRATEFUL...

I'm also weighing my options here. I've reached out to both companies to see which way I should go with the lighting...

Here’s what I’ve managed to pull together so far regarding music booking prices for next year;

-European People's Party band - $1,950
-The Boss - $1,950
-Twist off - $1,850
-Pink Panther - $1,900
-Coney Island - $1,650
-Mariner - $1,950
-Glass Lady - $1,750 (4 members), $2,050 (5 members)
-Nera x band - $1,100 - $2,200 (depending on the lineup)
-Rain Rhythm - $1,300 (trio)
-Barbara - $1,950

Prices caught me off guard... A friend of mine paid the Pink Panther Band about $1,150 just three or four years ago...

Alright, figured I'd throw my two cents into the ring too.
Vertigo Band (from Tulsa) - $3000
Simon & Garfunkel and Isaac (they’re actually a trio starting October 1st) - $1,400
Volar Band - $1,600 (that's for the five-piece setup with a female vocalist)
Milan Terze trio (two guys and a female vocalist) - $1,950
Trio Gušt - $3,250

Hello everyone, does anyone happen to know of a catering service in the Savannah or Charleston areas that would be open to just handling the decor and serving food and drinks? Thanks in advance! 🙂

Hey there!
Is anyone from the San Francisco area recently shopping for rings? I'm looking for some good deals and lower prices if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Thanks!

We picked ours up at the Vagus jewelry store.
The price was $933...it's custom made...and honestly, I think they just rely on reputation alone....

Sophia Phillips3 said:Honestly, I’m in the exact same boat here. I’m seriously considering booking them for a wedding, but now I'm second-guessing everything. Help a person out, people! 😁

I guess you’d only really need The Supremes if you’re looking to cover specific foreign tracks, but honestly, those guys can handle pretty much anything on their own since they’re so good at mimicking different vocal styles. They’re actually playing a party for me next year, and from what I’ve heard, everyone loves them. Most importantly, they don't take those annoying, long breaks that some other bands do.
They have a massive repertoire, too.

The Beach Boys are also amazing in my book—their lead singer is pretty wild. These two bands are definitely among my favorites.

Some of these other groups just seem to be in it for the paycheck, and I wasn't really feeling Barbara at all because their singer has a voice that sounds a bit too masculine for my taste.

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop a quick heads-up for anyone currently hunting for a wedding venue. A close friend of mine is getting married next year—most likely in September—and she’s been scouting locations. She actually fell in love with this specific venue in Dover that holds about 200 people. They’re planning on inviting around 200 guests, though they're realistically expecting closer to 170 to actually show up. Well, the venue manager told them that if they truly think only 170 will attend, they should just book a smaller room... because if they go with the larger space, they have to pay for all 200 seats regardless. Even after giving him a final headcount closer to the date, he won't budge. When they asked what would happen if they booked the smaller room but then suddenly had 200 people show up, he basically shrugged and said that wasn't his problem. If you want a room for 200, you pay for 200 chairs. He even went on to say that if someone books a hall for 350 because they invited, say, 360 people, but then notifies him a week or two before the deadline that only 300 are coming, they still have to pay for all 350. Apparently, this is his "new policy" and how he's decided to run things lately. I mean, how is anyone supposed to know their exact guest count a full year in advance to pick the right room? And these days, by the time you even know, everything is already booked up months ahead anyway... I just wanted to share this because my friend was absolutely livid dealing with such an idiot, and honestly, I am too. I can't believe some people run businesses like that. If he had said that to my face, I would have given him a piece of my mind and then some... 🙂 🙂

What kind of nonsense business model is that? Those new terms they're imposing are just ridiculous...
I actually had my wedding at the Bolero venue (located in the Belvedere building in San Francisco) back at the start of September. Even though they told us their minimum requirement for weddings is 150 guests, we ended up with only about 120 or 130 people because quite a few guests couldn't make it. We simply paid for the number of people who actually showed up; there were no strict conditions or any issues whatsoever, despite us being significantly under the number we originally announced.

On top of that, the hall looks absolutely stunning, the table layout is perfect, they have these great colorful lights, the food was fantastic, and the staff was attentive without being intrusive—everything on their end was flawless.

So, if I were in your shoes (or rather, your friend's shoes), I wouldn't bother haggling or dealing with people like that at all. I'd just find a different venue and let them be greedy with someone else.

Besides, if you're based in San Francisco, it's much easier for the crew to grab a taxi home (and come back for their car the next day) rather than worrying about how to drive back from a suburban town after drinking. For me personally, that was one of the most important deciding factors, which is why I focused my search on venues in San Francisco first, and Bolero turned out to be a total winner in every way.

To be honest, I had about fifteen different venues on my list when I started searching. I went to them first since they were the closest, and I didn't even bother looking elsewhere after that. Just to be clear... I don't work there (so please don't get the wrong idea!) and I have no connection to them other than being a client that night.

Bolero is a killer venue, but honestly? It feels better suited for massive weddings. I was there for a wedding recently—didn't even hit 150 people—and the whole place just felt empty. There was way too much wasted space behind the stage and around the edges... even with most people on the dance floor, it looked hollow on the wedding video. Still, the food and the vibe were top-tier though.

Anyone here dealt with Aria lately? I’ve heard nothing but good things, but since they transitioned from being Kokolo to Aria, I'm curious how they're running things now under the new owner and the new crew.

Does anyone know if Ivan Grubišić is still performing weddings? I'm thinking he probably isn't, but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask 🙂

Wait, what???? I am totally speechless! I actually booked that place in a suburban town a few months ago—the hall for 200+ people—at $36 per person for a six-month window. Is this some kind of new rule? Ugh, I might actually throw up thinking about that ridiculous idea!
