No luck with our neighbors; prices in Canada are actually a bit higher.

Austria is right there, and while the difference isn't massive, you definitely feel it.

Gregory Miller said:The MSRP for the 1060 is $249. Once you factor in the exchange rate around $567, plus margins, sales tax, local fees, and all that nonsense, let's say $667 would be a somewhat reasonable price. This is ridiculous. Where can you even find GPUs at decent prices? Maybe over in Mexico or Canada?

How is it 2000?

If you take $249, convert it at the best possible rate, and slap on sales tax, you end up at $726.
That's before we even talk about distribution costs, currency conversion, or the fact that you'll probably have to pay upfront for new stock.
The absolute bare minimum would be roughly $767

It’s actually pretty interesting seeing how the RX 470 and the GTX 1060 hold up on some older rigs. click

If you take $249, convert it at the best possible exchange rate, and then tack on sales tax, you end up looking at roughly $726.
And that’s assuming you don't account for shipping, currency conversion fees, or the fact that with new inventory, they'll probably demand payment upfront.
The absolute floor for this would be somewhere around $767

Fair enough. If we could actually snag it for $300 in Austria, that would be a win. At current rates, $249 is about €225, and once you add the 20% Austrian sales tax, you're sitting at €270 before you even consider their local fees, margins, and whatever other nonsense they throw in. Of course, I'm ignoring the cost of gas and the drive up there, but honestly, looking at the circus we deal with here at home, I'd much rather hand that extra 20% over to the government in Austria than to ours.

Let's just say. https://www.cyberport.at/gainward-ge...6-15D_789.html

...and by some stroke of luck, I’ve got family out in Vienna 😁

If you could actually snag that price ($300) over in Austria, it’d be a steal. $249 plus 20% Austrian sales tax puts us at $270, not even counting their extra fees and margins. And let's not even talk about the gas money for the drive. Honestly, looking at how this circus of a government runs things, I’d much rather hand that 20% over to the Austrian government than our own.

What about those weekend road trips to Austin? Just a quick $33 😁😁 😁
For the price difference compared to what we pay here, you could grab a McDonald's meal or feed the whole family meatballs at IKEA.

All in all, looks like prices will land around $2500-$900. Not bad. It’s close enough to the RX 480 that it should push that price down.

Hey everyone...
I'm looking at picking up a new GPU (maybe a 7850, 7870, 7950, or 7970)
I haven't decided on one yet because I'm worried my 3870k is going to bottleneck the card. I'd love to hear your
thoughts... do you think this CPU can actually handle a 7850, or should I just take the plunge and grab a 7970?
For context, it's an AMD quad-core running at 3.0 GHz with 4MB of L3 cache.
I've got a Freezer 13 cooler on it too, so I'm thinking I could probably overclock it to 3.5 if needed.
What's the consensus? The price gap between the 7850 and the 7970 is less than $150, and since I'm currently between jobs right now$33 that money might as well be gold to me.

An overclocked 3870K might struggle to keep up with an HD 7850, so I’d probably lean toward grabbing the latter 😉

What kind of motherboard and power supply are you running? If they're decent enough, you might actually hit close to 4GHz.

What price point are you aiming for on the HD 7850? You can find them for under $233, and I've spotted some GTX 660s going for about 550-$200.

What kind of motherboard and power supply are you running? You might actually hit close to 4GHz if your components aren't total junk.

What's your budget for the HD 7850? I've seen them go for less than $233, and there are some GTX 660s out there for around 550-$200.

Power supply is 450w... so I'm not even 100% sure about that either.
The A75M-HVS is the motherboard with the FM1 socket... this is basically the strongest processor that can fit in it, which is why I'm looking for the best possible GPU to pair with it. My next move will be a whole new PC anyway.
So, what's your recommendation? Nvidia works too...

If I were you, I’d bump that power supply up to 450-500W. The price difference is basically peanuts, and you’ll actually have some breathing room later when you try to upgrade...
As for the GPU, I'd probably go with an r7 260x.

What would you suggest? I'm open to Nvidia too...

What specific power supply are we talking about (make and model)? You'll need to pull up the actual page to see the details.

The RX 460 is arriving on July 28th. We should see the 470 around early August too, though nothing is officially confirmed yet. Basically, it's happening very soon.

It's a BlueBerry PSB420, 420W.
Honestly, it caught me off guard. I just double-checked my receipt from when I bought it, and it clearly says I paid for a Corsair 500W...

Yeah, that one gives you the most bang for your buck.

Look, the RX 480 is basically on par with the R9 390. The big difference is the power draw. That 390 pulls a massive 275W, whereas this one only needs about 150W.

If we aren't just talking about saving money on the electric bill, but looking at the actual cost of hardware—since the newer cards are definitely going to be pricier than the older series—then sticking with the previous generation might actually be the smarter move once the sales start hitting.

Anyway, the GT 930 and GT 940 are dropping in October. I'll probably just grab one of those. I'm leaning toward a passively cooled model to keep things quiet.

They totally sold you some junk. You should definitely go back and demand what you actually paid for.
