fadedorca66 said:Your best bet is definitely the NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB. You might actually be able to track one down somewhere. The reality is that crypto miners swept up just about everything else in that price bracket (like the RX 470/570 or the 3GB version of the 1060), so the 6GB model is really your only realistic shot.

If you want to go cheaper, there's the 1050 Ti, but honestly, the performance jump from what you're running now isn't worth the money.

I'm looking at this guy I work with—he's a full-on crypto miner.

how much of a real-world difference are we actually talking about when choosing between the 3GB and 6GB VRAM versions of that NVIDIA GTX 1060? like, if I'm running something heavy like GTA V or Call of Duty, would I even notice

Mining rigs are everywhere now. 😁 This one's a bit hardcore since it's running a 1080Ti.

Just search "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3gb vs 6gb" on YouTube and you'll find tons of benchmarks. It varies by game, but I guess if you want to keep that card for a while, aiming for the 6GB version makes sense; 3GB might feel a bit tight eventually.

Also, keep in mind it’s not just about having an extra 3GB of memory—the chip itself is actually beefier in the 6GB model.

It’s definitely hardcore if you've got 6x 1080Tis running. 😬

Guys, I just landed from Mars and honestly, I have zero motivation to actually study any of this. I haven't kept up with component specs in 4 or 5 years. Can someone just throw out some "best buy" suggestions for under 1200/$433
?

You don't really have many options right now; an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is the way to go. Just find the cheapest one you can with the longest warranty, and you're set.

I'd like to check if purchasing directly through their online store includes a full 3-year warranty. If it doesn't:

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for some advice here...
Between the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 TI and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, which one would you recommend for animation, 3D work, or video editing?
Hardware isn't exactly my specialty, but from what I've read, Adobe (I'm currently running Adobe Creative Suite 6) apparently runs into issues with the 10XX series due to the Pascal architecture...
Does anyone happen to know if After Effects faces those same hurdles when using the 980 TI?
Also, how does the Autodesk Maya plugin perform on each of these cards?
From what I've gathered, they're roughly equal when it comes to 3ds Max—has anyone actually tested this?
And how do they hold up in video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas Pro?
Thanks for the help,
best regards

What’s going on? Are miners buying everything up? The forum search isn't working for me. 😁 I was just starting to consider an RX 480 when this happened. -.-

Exactly. They won't be back in stock until October.

Hm, what’s the reasoning there? I guess I’ll just have to make do with an R7 370... for the time being. 😢

I’ve been weighing the idea of selling my NVIDIA GTX 1060 lately. It feels like a good time to cash out while the value is still decent, but it leaves me wondering: what should I actually replace it with? Honestly, I wouldn't mind stepping down to a slightly less powerful card, since my current setup is honestly overkill for what I'm doing right now. My original plans for this build were much more ambitious, but life happens, right? 😁 What would you consider the best value pick today that can still handle titles like ROFL, the latest PES, and NBA on high settings at 1080p?

Also, just out of curiosity, if you were sitting on a Sapphire NVIDIA GTX 1060 and someone offered you $50,

I think it’s probably worth selling... honestly, a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB should be plenty for those games. If anyone actually tries to pressure you into a sale, I guess you could always ask for a bit more 🤣

That’s pretty much where my head is at too—honestly, unless you're looking at an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti, nothing else seems worth the investment right now. What’s your take, though? Do you think it’s actually worth dropping a few extra hundred bucks just to grab a version with dual fans?
