slysurfer2 said:Just a quick update... I literally just ordered one, and then my period shows up the very next day after being a month late!! It's never been this late in my life. Guess anything can happen... probably just stress or some big change... something triggered the delay. Still, I'm going to get checked out just to be sure.

I would suggest you go ahead and see a doctor; it is entirely possible you might have been dealing with a biochemical pregnancy.🀷

I need a little help here. My period was supposed to arrive last Friday, but it’s running late... I took a quick One Step test yesterday afternoon and saw a super faaaaaint second line. Then I tried again this morning and the line didn't look any darker at all. I'm ready to sprint to CVS to grab some Intim Plus (shoutout to that 😁 commercial) but so far, nothing but an empty πŸ˜•
. As for symptoms, I wouldn't call them anything majorβ€”just a bit of nausea in the evenings and I've been hitting the bathroom more often. Honestly, I don't really have a specific 🀷

placidviper12, three tests in three days? Honestly, if you can hold out for just a few more days, maybe you could run one more thenβ€”just in case your period doesn't actually show up... It might be a little premature to be testing right this second. :nezna:

I agree with Jamie Gonzalez; I would suggest waiting at least three days. HCG levels typically double every two days. It is entirely possible that you ovulated later than expected, meaning your hormone levels are still quite low. Best of luck πŸ˜‰

If you saw a second line on an One Step, then YES, you're pregnant. But just a heads upβ€”that line HAS to be clearly visible, not something you have to tilt the test at weird angles to see. If you can see it while holding it normally, it's positive. As for the second test you took? The line wouldn't have gotten darker any faster than it did anyway.β˜•

On my internet-sourced tests, I could clearly see the lines right away, whereas on the PrimaStick, the line didn't even show up until after about 15 minutes had passedπŸ™„. It seems some tests are simply more sensitive than others, wouldn't you agree?🀷

When that line showed up, the test was positive. I’m telling you, she's definitely pregnant.😍

Look, if there's a line, you're pregnant. Period.😁 I've spent way too much time staring at tests over the years, and let me tell you, sometimes those lines just aren't there until they are.😍 Just wait a few more days (maybe 3) and take it first thing in the morning. That way you won't be squinting and trying to play detective to see if there's actually a line or not. Those cheap ones from the drugstore work just as well as the overpriced fancy brands. As for symptoms? It's way too early to tell... if you start getting hit with nausea (fingers crossed you don't!), that usually kicks in around week seven.

Me toooo 😒((
I just went out to pick some up and tried running a test, but it’s acting all weird and smudgy.
A line showed up in the little viewing window, but it's incredibly faint...
It's barely visible at all, even though I've been reading the instructions and it should be clearly legible..
I'm going to grab a coffee, then head back out to get another one...😍

A friend of mine just took a home pregnancy test and saw a faint line. She went in for a blood test to check her hCG levels, and the result came back at 0.12 mIU/mL, with the reference range being anything up to 5. Can anyone explain what this actually means?πŸ˜• thanks

That essentially means there is no pregnancy. The beta levels need to be above 5 to be considered positive, yet you mentioned her result was only 0.12.

Greetings to everyone. Yesterday, around 4:00 PM, I was intimate with my girlfriend and the condom actually brokeβ€”right at the tip. I managed to pull out just before ejaculation, so there was no internal climax, but it was only then that I noticed the breakage. Now, both she and I are spiraling into a bit of a panic regarding the possibility of pregnancy. She took a home pregnancy test this morning around 8:00 AM, and the result was negative. My question is: did she take the test far too early, and how much weight can we actually give to that result? Her cycle is quite irregular, which is why she takes hormonal birth control pills to keep things stabilized. Her last period lasted from May 27th through the 31st, so we are expecting her next one around June 27th or 28th. Tomorrow, we plan to pick up another test and also grab some emergency contraception just to be absolutely certain. In your expert opinions, what are the actual odds here? How reliable is today's negative result considering it has only been about 16 hours since the encounter?
We are desperately seeking some guidance. πŸ‘

There’s just no way she could have found out anything that quickly after having sex. These tests only show a pregnancy once you hit that specific window of days after a missed periodβ€”it's exactly what the instructions on the box say. You really need to wait several days after the encounter. There's still plenty of time to check those hormone levels a few days down the line.

It would be more accurate to say weeks after the encounterπŸ™‚

Your girlfriend's pregnancy test won't mean much until roughly June 27th... there's really no point in wasting money on more tests or stressing over them before then

She needs to get that emergency contraceptive immediately, because it’s only effective within a 72-hour window after intercourse, and its reliability drops with every passing hour... if she waits too long, it simply won't work at all

What specific hormones is she taking? Often, the stuff prescribed for cycle regulation can act similarly to birth control by blocking ovulation, which might mean she doesn't even need the Plan B. Let me know the exact name of those pills and if she takes them consistently.

If you're certain you pulled out in time, honestly, I don't think she's pregnant. I see her fertile window was open based on her cycle, though, so the chances are slim.
A pregnancy test isn't reliable until she's actually due for her period. There isn't a test on the market that can detect pregnancy 16 hours after sex.

Diane has been on the pill for about a month now, though we aren't entirely certain regarding its reliability as a contraceptive method.

They're reliable. Honestly, she should just call her doctor and get a straight answer from a professional. Just don't go mixing them with emergency contraception without knowing what you're doingβ€”that's playing with fire.
