Let's say your ovulation hit perfectly on day 14. That would put you at day 19, which is just five days post-ovulation. According to the textbooks, implantation usually happens anywhere from five to ten days after that. If you went in for an ultrasound now, you might see something, but it’d likely just be a tiny little bubble.

It’s totally possible your period is late just because your body is still detoxing from birth control and trying to get its hormones back on track. I don't know what your cycles were like before you started the pill or how long you were on it.

Your best bet is to take a test or go get a blood test done. A beta test will give you a definitive answer on whether you're pregnant. Women going through IVF usually have them tested as early as ten days after ovulation.

Since my period isn't due until approximately the 21st, I find myself wondering: would it be premature to attempt a pregnancy test at this stage?

I don’t really have anyone else to turn to, so I figured this was my best shot. Maybe I’m overthinking things because I’m a guy, but honestly, I am freaking out here and I don't have anyone to ask about this kind of stuff.
So, here's the deal: my girlfriend is over two weeks late with her period. We went out and grabbed a pregnancy test to see if we could get some answers, but we couldn't make heads or tails of the results. Instead of those clear pink lines you're supposed to see, there were just these faint, blurry smudges at the edge of the little windows. No actual lines. It wasn't even her first urine of the morning, though the box says that shouldn't matter, so now I'm just sitting here wondering where we messed up.
The worst part is that we weren't looking for this, and we were using a condom every single time.
I'm a complete wreck right now, and I honestly have no clue what I'm supposed to do if it turns out she actually is pregnant...

Look, it’s actually pretty straightforward... just retake the test!! Maybe you didn't even do it right the first time... honestly, if you want the easiest, 100% foolproof way to know, just head to an OB-GYN. They'll run an ultrasound and give you a definitive answer on whether there's a pregnancy there or not. Good luck, and I hope you get the result you're actually hoping for!

Zdenac, you should listen to what placidjackal14 is saying... Try one more test, follow the instructions exactly, and if that still doesn't work, just go with a UZV—those are definitely reliable!
Good luck!👍

Not just yet... honestly, you're better off waiting until a couple of days after your period was actually supposed to show up—so, say the 23rd or 24th at the earliest.😉

I’d suggest retaking the test. If there's still any doubt after that, it’s probably worth making an appointment with an OB-GYN. As for that final question... whether she ends up pregnant or not, you'll eventually know your next move. Just be honest with one another and try to find some middle ground. Good luck.

Even if she is pregnant—though I remain skeptical, as hormones don't usually play such unreliable tricks with the test indicators 🤣—we would likely spend a few days in a state of confusion before ultimately deciding to celebrate. Good luck to both 😘 and you; do be a gentleman and let us know how the situation unfolds.👍

I’d suggest she just retakes the test tomorrow morning using her first urine of the day—or, if she wants to stop playing guessing games, she should head straight to a private clinic like Quest Diagnostics and get a proper beta HCG blood test conducted once and for all.😉

So you’re saying you guys used a condom... which means the odds of pregnancy are pretty slim, even if they aren't zero... honestly, I’m convinced there’s just something funky going on with that test. You should probably run it again—and make sure you actually do it right this time, because at least one line should show up in that control window to prove the thing isn't a dud. In my experience, these tests have never steered me wrong. Just try one more time and... take it slow. And hey, look at the bright side—if your girl actually ends up pregnant, you'll know exactly what needs to happen next.

Of course I’ll keep you guys posted. You’re honestly the only ones I can turn to right now. Thanks so much, everyone!! So, she just told me she used PRIMASTICK, so please tell me—how reliable is that brand? And do the lines have to be super dark, or is it normal if they're a bit faint?

Just go see an OB-GYN. They can definitely tell you if your girlfriend is pregnant just by doing an ultrasound exam.

I would go so far as to say these tests are nearly 100% reliable. The instructions suggest waiting five minutes, but frankly, that’s a formality. In my case, the line appeared within three seconds. I suppose I’m among the lucky ones—this has been a long time coming—and my period was only three days late.

I have to be honest—I’ve never even heard of that brand before, so I haven't the slightest clue about its reliability.😬
