Grab a test! (For anyone wondering if they're pregnant)

Itβs literally just one day. It is way too early to be spiraling into this kind of panic...

And itβs actually perfect for testing if you're already spiraling.
Just take a breather, head over to a CVS, and grab a test so you can stop guessing. I remember how nerve-wracking the uncertainty was for me, which is why I just bit the bullet and tested whenever I had a hunch. Honestly, whether it was positive or negative, anything was better than just sitting there wondering.

No problem!π
I totally get why some women were being harsh on you. These situations happen all the time, and honestly, I was just in the thick of it myself recently, so I know exactly how much of a headache this stress is... I read through the whole "just buy a test" thread (didn't want to repost because it's all the same stuff), figured I was pregnant, went out to grab one, and then got pulled over on my way! π
But seriously, this thread is a lifesaver when you're dealing with this, whether you're looking to get pregnant or not. It really helped me out...

Iβm honestly spiraling a little because I just had unprotected sex for the first time ever. I used to be on birth control, but I stopped about four months ago when my boyfriend and I broke up... now we're back together and, well, we messed up. The real kicker is that my period is never late. It has never once arrived after the 36-day mark...

Maria Wright35 said:Yeah, I usually hit 35, maybe 36 at the absolute latest, but today we're looking at 37...
And honestly, what is with all this frantic panic? It is quite literally just a one-day delay. If you continue down this path of hysteria, youβll likely find yourself worrying about even more delays simply because you've worked yourself into such a state of nervous exhaustion. Just go buy a test tomorrow and see. You clearly want to hear that you aren't pregnantβand you likely aren't if there was no ejaculation involvedβso I fail to see why there is such an intense, overwhelming amount of panic surrounding every single topic on this forum.

Honestly, this thread is helping me out too, so thanks everyone...
but I have to agree with what you saidβthose people who clearly don't belong here shouldn't be sticking around just to insult everyone else...

Charles Ramirez59 said:No, it isn't too early, considering the luteal phase usually lasts about 14 days (anywhere from 10 to 16 is pretty standard) and she was actually due for her period yesterday or the day before.
Me again. Thatβs only 13 days! A friend of mine tested at what she thought was 4 weeks along and still got a negative. Sure, a high-sensitivity test might pick it up, but honestly, it's probably more likely to be a false negative. Isn't Bhcga a bit of a long shot this early?
#1569 ·
If you take this personally, Iβd suggest staying out of the discussions on this forum altogether. π
Just 13 days, yeah.
Of course it could show a false negative. But there's a very good chance it'll be accurate.
I have actually seen positive tests done just 10 or 11 days after ovulation.

Solid advice, but let's give her some graceβhormones are a beast, whether it's PMS or pregnancy, everything just hits harder.
Look, Maria Wright35, nobody here is qualified to tell you "yes" or "no," but if it helps, my gut says the odds are pretty slim..
Keep us posted on how that party goes

Alright, one more question, and I promise I won't keep pestering you all... I was reading some stuff online that suggests if your period doesn't show up within two weeks of having sex during your fertile window, that's the first sign of pregnancy. Is there actually any truth to that? It sounds a bit too much like a miracle to me... and please, just don't start throwing criticisms my way again...

Maria Wright35, hopefully you learned your lesson from this little mess you made for yourself!π
If I were you, I wouldn't be wasting time typing on a forum right nowβIβd be halfway to CVS. If you hadn't gotten so hung up on posting here, you might have actually dealt with that huge stressor already.
And hey, look on the bright side! I just took a peek at my crystal ball, and it says you aren't pregnant. But, uh, it also whispered that given your age, maybe be a little more careful if motherhood isn't really on your radar right now.π
Seriously though, get moving and go grab a test!π

The luteal phase can sometimes stretch beyond two weeks without there being a pregnancy.
Also, while a missed period is a symptom, itβs certainly not the only one.
It could just be stress.
Or maybe ovulation happened a little later than usual, which shifts everything else back.
Your hormones might just be acting up.
Or maybe...

And why is it "crazy"? You ovulated, the egg got fertilized, it implanted, and that's it... why on earth would a woman have her period?
Look, just read it. I see you were out sick from school that day. π

Itβs me again, back for more... when is the absolute earliest I can actually take another test? I did one last night and it came up negative, but Iβm starting to get a little anxious because my period just isn't showing up. Itβs three days late now, which is unheard of for me since I'm usually clockwork... I picked up an Clearblue test at CVS to try my luck again.

If your cycle is typically regular, you can take a test as early as one day after your expected period is late.

If you want absolute certainty, I would suggest scheduling an appointment with your OB-GYN first thing Tuesday morning; by then, you should at least have some clarity on where things stand.

So I was reading up on this, and apparently, it says you can test as early as the day your period is expected. Or, if you aren't even sure when that should be, you wait about 19 days after having sex... I ended up testing two days after my period was late, though that actually worked out to be the 13th day after we had sex.
