Hey everyone 🙂

I’ve been dealing with some shortness of breath and heart palpitations lately, so I went in to get some tests done—both imaging and blood work. My blood results are a little concerning because my blood sugar is up, and my cholesterol is also creeping higher than it should be:

Glucose ... 6.1 (4.2-6.0)
Cholesterol..5.2 (0-5)
LDL cholesterol...3.2 <3
Sodium....147 (137-146)

Everything else seems to be within the normal range. Can anyone tell me if I should be worried about this or what might be causing it? I'm 21 years old and I've never dealt with anything like this before. I've always been pretty thin, but over the last year, I've definitely put on quite a bit of weight.

Make sure you get your thyroid levels checked—specifically T3, T4, and TSH!

I actually meant to ask about the specific guidelines for that... but we got so carried away talking that it completely slipped my mind. It’s not out of the question that my thyroid is involved—my mom actually had two surgeries on hers, after all. Anyway, I'm going to wait for my heart and lung results first. Though, honestly, I have a feeling the imaging might not tell us much; I suspect there's another diagnostic method out there that would be way more precise and give us actual answers.

I went for blood work this morning and my numbers are through the roof. AST is at 1000 (normal is up to 0.58), ALT is 1078 (normal is up to 0.74), and S-Gama GT hit 1390 (normal is 0.92). For context, I’m 6'1" and over 330 lbs, though I've been on a diet for about a week now. These results honestly spooked me. How do I get these numbers down? I know, I know—everyone is going to tell me to lose weight, but if it were that simple, I would have done it a long time ago. Please, if anyone knows what these levels actually imply, let me know. What kind of consequences am I looking at? Oh, and I don't have my bilirubin levels; my doctor didn't think it was worth checking. HELP !!!!!!!😕

You didn't say why you had your blood drawn or provide any actual medical history regarding your symptoms. Regardless, you need to get those labs redone. You should also schedule a cardiac stress test and repeat your AST, ALT, and bilirubin levels. Your doctor will definitely order hepatitis screening, and they might check for mononucleosis too. On top of all that, you really ought to get an abdominal ultrasound.

For the last five years or so, I’ve been dealing with constant issues from E. coli in my urine. I even ended up with a kidney infection once. Since I’ve been feeling some lower abdominal pain lately, along with that occasional burning sensation after I go, I figured it was just another UTI hitting me. On my own initiative, I went ahead and had a urine culture done. Honestly, the results have me completely stumped. Everything came back sterile—negative across the board—except for the protein levels, which are at 15. What should my next move be? Is this something I need to take to a doctor? Should I be looking for a nephrologist?

What does it actually mean when fibrinogen levels are significantly elevated?

Proteins at 15 what? If you actually have significant proteinuria, you definitely need to see a nephrologist. One more thing... if you're going to lay out your symptoms, you really ought to include some key medical history. For instance, how old are you? Proteinuria in a 20-year-old vs. an 80-year-old follows completely different diagnostic protocols and criteria

It could mean a lot of things. It all comes down to age, gender, what symptoms you're dealing with, and even if you were fasting during the blood work...

Could someone please clarify what these specific markers on my lab requisition actually mean: KKS; AST; ALT; CRP; TSH? Specifically—does this order just cover blood work, or does it include a urinalysis too? I'm asking because my period is wrapping up, and if they need a urine sample, I should probably let them know now that I won't be able to get that done tomorrow!
Thanks in advance!🙂

Skin issues—that's the main thing. I had elevated androstenedione and slightly low estrogen, so I had to get some blood work done because of those hormonal imbalances. Also have high fibrinogen... Age 26

HELP !!!!!!! ALT being at 63—can anyone tell me what might be causing that?

About two months ago, it was sitting around 53 (I don't have the lab results right in front of me, but somewhere in that ballpark).
A year ago, my cholesterol and LDL were both high. I managed to get those under control, but my ALT stayed elevated and actually started creeping up even more.

Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, I'm 26 years old, and I was hoping to get some insight regarding this spinal X-ray report. Thank you:

There is visible straightening of the cervical spine's physiological lordosis. The bone structures of the vertebrae appear normal. Vertebral bodies maintain normal height, and the intervertebral spaces are preserved. There are bilateral hypertrophic transverse processes at the C7 vertebra.
On functional imaging of the cervical spine, there is limited inclination, though the dynamic segments show normal recline.
A hypolordosis is visible in the lumbar spine. The bone structures of the vertebrae appear normal. Vertebral bodies maintain normal height, and the intervertebral spaces are preserved.
On functional imaging of the lumbar spine, there is limited inclination, though the dynamic segments show normal recline.

I'm looking for some clarity on these immunology test results. Can anyone explain what it means to have positive ANCA, AMHA-M2, and AGLM, along with a speckled ANA(ENA) pattern?

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if these values (slightly above the upper limit) are worrying, or is this still considered normal?

I went in for blood work on my own because I want to start birth control again. My OB-GYN previously suggested I get a liver panel, coagulation profile, and lipid panel done first. As for the liver tests—everything looks fine. These are my coagulation results:

(the last values are the reference ranges)

prothrombin time 1.05 >0.70
. 0.97 INR i>
APTT 33 22-28
APPT ratio 1.27 0.80-1.20
fibrinogen 3.7 1.8-3.5
antitrombin (AT III) 80 75-125
protein c 131.40 70-140

Thanks

Hi everyone,

So, my mom just had some bloodwork done, and now she’s being sent for a liver ultrasound because of the results. She’s already spiraling with worry—and honestly, since her doctor is just sitting there staying silent instead of actually explaining things—I figured I’d come here and ask you all.

Here’s what we're looking at:

LDH-260
GGT-40
Alkaline phosphatase-54

What could this potentially mean?

Thanks for any help.

Are you drinking? Eating junk? Living on greasy fast food? Look... these are liver enzymes. It could be anything from fatty liver disease to something else entirely. You really need to ask your doctor.🙂

Hey everyone. About a month ago, I dealt with some nasty stomach flu—vomiting, diarrhea, the whole deal. I had bloodwork done back then and here’s what I had:
leukocytes: 9.0 (3.4 - 9.7)
LYMPH % : 6.8 (20 - 46)
NEUT % : 89.6 (44 - 72)

Everything eventually cleared up. My mother-in-law works at a local hospital, and about two weeks ago, she just ran some labs for me as a favor. Things were looking mostly fine:

leukocytes 4.7
iron 26
sedimentation rate after 1hr: 7 (4 - 24), and after two hours: 21
Lymphocytes 28 (20 - 46)
Neutrophil granulocytes 64 (44 - 72)
Monocytes 8 (2 - 19)

Then, out of nowhere, one of my lymph nodes got swollen. The doctor sent me for more bloodwork, and these were the results:

LEUKOCYTES: 4.7 (3.4 - 9.7)
LYMPH % : 38.8 (20 - 46)
MXD% : 8.9 (2 - 19)
NEUT% : 52.3 (44 - 72)

Technically, everything is within the normal range. But honestly, I'm spiraling thinking about cancer. Is it normal for my LYMPH levels to jump by 10% in just a single week? Is this something I should be extremely, extremely worried about?

The doctor says it's fine, but I'm still terrified. Is this actually okay? HELP !!!!!!!

That lymph node on the right side of my neck is still swollen. It’s basically sitting right where you’d transition from your jawline down to your neck. It doesn't even hurt, which honestly makes it worse—it’s just giving me endless anxiety!!!!!!!
