Could this be some kind of kidney issue? To me, it feels like there might be an infection brewing—though typically, when things get inflamed, the urine turns cloudy and dark, whereas here it’s just bright yellow.
Is urination infrequent?
And what about painful urination? (I can see a little bit of blood in the urine).🤷

So, I have a question... I'm experiencing pain on the left side of my body just below the ribs. It’s a constant, dull ache—almost like something is cutting into me. When I try to take a deep breath, the pain intensens. Any thoughts? (I'm a 28-year-old male)

It could be pancreatitis; that’s exactly how it started for me. Go get some blood work done. If your amylase levels come back through the roof, you'll have your answer. Best.

Asking for a neighbor, she's in her early 40s. Her ALT is sitting at 968???? (Is that even possible from just drinking beer?)
Chronic alcoholism?
Thanks!

Also, can the liver actually recover—you know, with diet and rest? I noticed she has edema in her legs, though she’s trying to hide it pretty badly.

With chronic alcoholism, ALT is usually higher than AST, often several times over (like three times).
If they're an alcoholic and have edema in their lower legs, they likely already have cirrhosis, since those are hypoproteinemic edemas—she probably has ascites too (fluid buildup in the abdomen).

Yes, the liver can recover; its regenerative capacity is massive. Of course, there's a limit to that...

I went in for blood work and a urine sample today, and I noticed four values are out of range:

leukocytes 11.7 (3.4-9.7)
eosinophils 9.6 (0-7)
ALT 40 (10-36)
GGT 68 (9-35)

plus my MCHC is slightly low at 318 (320-345)

Everything else looks fine. As for the urine results, it says: clear, pale yellow, pH 5, specific gravity 1.025; proteins, ketones, bilirubin, nitrites, blood—all negative; glucose and urobilinogen are normal; leukocytes 1-3, epithelial cells 2, mucus 1, bacteria 1.

Should I be worried about these four elevated numbers and that one low value? And does the urine report look okay to you?
I have an appointment with my doctor this Monday, but honestly, they rarely take the time to actually explain things to me. So, if anyone here understands these readings, I would truly appreciate any insight. Thanks! Best to everyone.

I have a question for the experts here. I just got my blood and urine results back today; my bloodwork looks fine, but my urine results are a total disaster. I went in for an exam because my leg joints have been acting up lately. Here’s what the report shows: 3 hyaline casts per 10 fields, 2 non-hyaline casts with amorphous salts per 10 fields, a high amount of bacteria, plenty of crystals from amorphous salts, and a lot of mucus. I was prescribed Nolicin and given a referral to a nephrologist. My doctor was being pretty cryptic about it; he just said he wants to get a specialist's opinion. I'm also wondering what a nephrologist actually does during an exam, because honestly, I'm terrified of having my blood drawn again.

They prescribed me Nolicin and gave me a referral to a nephrologist. My doctor was being incredibly cryptic about everything; he just said he wanted to hear a specialist's opinion. Honestly, I'm also terrified of what the nephrologist might do during the exam, especially since I have a massive phobia of blood draws.

It sounds to me like your kidneys are the culprit here... how is your urination looking?

It’s likely just some minor inflammation, maybe a bladder infection or something similar.
In my opinion, there’s nothing here worth losing sleep over.

I actually deal with that quite often—that feeling like I haven't fully finished, usually just small spurts. It doesn't really disrupt my sleep, though; I can hold it for a while without feeling like I have to rush to the bathroom immediately.

It doesn't necessarily ruin my night, and I'm not being forced into an emergency situation where I have to sprint to the bathroom immediately, either.

I suspect you might be dealing with kidney issues here—frequent urination, discomfort... tell me, are you experiencing any pain on both sides of your lower back, just above the glutes?

Don't mention it. Seriously, if you end up getting those iron supplements, you absolutely have to take them alongside some Vitamin C—think of it like trying to start a car with a dead battery; without that extra kick, you're just spinning your wheels. And please, for heaven's sake, load up on vegetables and fruit. Just eat what a parent would feed a healthy baby—you'll know it when you see it, because that’s the kind of fuel that actually keeps the engine running properly.🙄

Well, urinating isn't painful yet.🙂 But what you said about the pain on both sides of my back—I honestly thought I was just coming down with rheumatism, 😁not realizing it could be the kidneys. Do you have any actual advice? Aside from the fact that I've already scheduled an appointment with a nephrologist, am drinking plenty of water, sipping on cranberry tea, and eating dried cranberries.

Do you have any actual, intelligent advice beyond the fact that I've already booked an appointment with a nephrologist, am chugging water like a fish, drinking cranberry tea, and snacking on dried cranberries?

Nothing right now... if you don't mind me asking, what's your hemoglobin level?
Just lie down and rest... are you running a fever?

Hey everyone, just got back from seeing my cardiologist, and here’s the verdict:

Presolol 100 mg (half pill, twice a day)
Monopril 10 mg
Aspirin 100mg
Sortis 10 mg

My blood pressure was absolutely wrecking me, sitting at 180/110. Bloodwork came back like this:
Cholesterol 5.6
Triglycerides 4.91
HDL 0.90
LDL 3.54
Blood sugar 6.2

The doctor told me if I actually want to look out for myself, I need to stay on this stuff for life.
Wait, even the Sortis is forever?!
Is it safe to take Sortis long-term, and is there any truth to it messing with your liver?

I'm 45, and both my parents had major heart issues (my mom dealt with angina pectoris).
Sadly, they both passed away from strokes—mom was 81 and dad was 74.
I'm not even overweight, standing at about 182 cm and 185 lbs!

Just relax.. do you have a fever?

I'm 37, 6'5", and carrying a little extra weight.😁 I don't have a fever and I feel fine, really. It's just that my joints were swollen about two weeks ago, so I went in for some tests and this is what they found. Based on what you've seen, do you think a couple of rounds of antibiotics will clear this up, or is this something that might stick around longer?
