Of course you can switch primary care doctors; the only catch is ensuring the new one actually has an opening. They operate on specific patient quotas. You just head over to the new clinic, tell them you want to transfer, fill out the paperwork, and let them handle the bureaucracy from there. If you’re having trouble finding someone willing to take you on, just check with Medicare. They track exactly how many patients each doctor is seeing and know who is required to accept new transfers.

I get how it usually works... you go looking for someone new and then ditch the old one...
but I actually need to do the exact opposite... leave my current doctor behind and wander around with a cardboard sign looking for a new one?
why am I even searching like this?
it's simple,... because no doctor is going to take you on if you're already seeing someone else...
but if I don't have one, they absolutely have to see me...

That's just an opinion of yours that has absolutely nothing to do with reality, medical practice, or the law. ☕

Yeah, that’s just my take based on what I've seen in my tiny little hometown...
We can't even switch out our pediatrician because nobody wants to be the one to cause a scene...and it's the same story with all the other doctors. Honestly, if I could just grab someone else, I totally would, but apparently, it's considered "unfair" to steal patients away from a colleague. That was the exact answer I got! I know it has nothing to do with the actual law, but there's nothing I can do about it here. Though, I have been thinking about making a huge stink about it. I mean, our local hospital is constantly making the headlines for all the ridiculous nonsense the doctors pull anyway. 😢

Doesn't matter if they work at a community clinic, in hospitals, or private practice, as long as the wait isn't endless... looking for their name, office hours, location, and price if it's private, since the websites don't list any of that stuff... you can also just shoot me a PM! Thanks!!

My apologies if this thread already exists; I just don't have the patience to keep scrolling through everything anymore... the more I look, the less I seem to find... :S

I’ve been living with Type 1 diabetes for 15 years now (I'm 18), and I've been managing it through the pediatric department at Mount Sinai Medical Center. To be blunt, I’m not happy with the nursing staff—with very few exceptions—and frankly, neither am I with Dr. Stipančić. She seems to be highly regarded only by a specific group of patients she happens to favor. Not once has she truly impressed me, nor has she ever offered a single word of genuine encouragement or support when things get heavy. She might be a brilliant scientist and a doctor, but she lacks the fundamental ability to actually connect with her patients... My HbA1C has consistently stayed around 6.70%, and over the last few years, it’s been down to 6.00%. Yet, despite that, she continues to criticize how I manage my condition. Sometimes I get the distinct feeling she’d be much happier if my levels were north of 15... That’s just my perspective based on 15 years of dealing with this, and I’m not interested in hearing anyone try to convince me otherwise. Anyway, back to why I'm here. I want to switch endocrinologists at a different hospital. Can anyone recommend a specialist you are genuinely satisfied with at Johns Hopkins Hospital? I'm looking for someone other than Dr. Dumić, assuming he’s still practicing at Johns Hopkins or Vvrhovac (though I feel a stronger pull toward Johns Hopkins)... also, would I still qualify under the pediatric wing?

I need some information here—specifically a phone number for a doctor or a nurse who handles home visits. I need someone to come out and change a permanent urinary catheter for a man. Honestly, I’m done with constantly putting him through the ringer and dragging him back and forth to the hospital in an ambulance just because he's immobile. It's exhausting.
Thanks.

Hey, does anyone have a solid recommendation for a good private endocrinologist in the Chicago area?

I’m looking for a recommendation for a solid dermatologist in San Diego... honestly, I don't mind whether they have a private practice or work out of a hospital. I've been struggling with acne issues lately.

Dr. Žmiriti from V. Vrhovac (now retired) is currently seeing private patients at CO Polyclinic.

Looking for some recommendations—based on actual, real-world experience—for a solid private cardiologist here in Chicago.

I've been dealing with some hormonal stuff lately and honestly, I'm just looking for someone who actually listens and doesn't just rush you out the door after five minutes. It's such a headache trying to find someone reliable when you don't want to deal with the usual runaround. Let me know if you know anyone worth seeing!

Look, I can't really point you toward any private specialists—it’s just not how I roll—but if you want my honest take, here’s what I’d suggest. Dr. Samardžija So, I’ve been seeing her over at Johns Hopkins Hospital—she’s actually the one following my progress after that stroke I had, and honestly, you have to hand it to her, she is incredibly on top of things. She really knows her stuff and doesn't miss a beat when it comes to her work.

Does anyone know a good ophthalmologist in Chicago? It’s kind of an emergency because reading is giving me a massive headache lately. I just moved to the area recently, so I'm still trying to figure out where I can actually get an appointment without waiting forever. I'm currently finishing up high school, and honestly, my workload is so heavy right now that it's becoming impossible to keep up when the letters are literally dancing all over the page. 😉

I’m on the hunt for a seriously top-tier ophthalmologist in Miami, maybe somewhere in the surrounding areas too. But listen, I don't want some quick fix—I need someone who actually does a thorough job and works out of a clinic that’s actually well-equipped. I specifically need a visual field test done, and I'm looking for a deep-dive exam that goes way beyond just checking my prescription and calling it a day.

Does anyone happen to know where Dr. Barišić is practicing privately now? He’s the gynecologist from the Petrov clinic area. He used to be at Sunce, but he isn't there anymore... thanks so much!

Hey guys—does anyone happen to know any good doctors who can give me a solid diagnosis? I’m looking for someone who takes Medicare, though I’m also open to going private if I have to... I honestly have no clue what those types of visits end up costing these days. Looking in either Chicago or Miami. Please let me know if you have any leads. It’s kind of an emergency. Thanks!

Does anyone happen to know a solid female gynecologist around the Dubrava area—or honestly, anywhere else in Chicago—who actually takes Medicare and is currently accepting new patients? 🙂 I tried asking about this in another thread, but it’s pretty quiet over there and hardly anyone ever checks it.

To make it worth your while, I’ve got a great dentist recommendation for you—Dr. Hrvoje Blažić over at the Police Department Clinic—but on the flip side, I have one big "do not recommend": Arianna Pervan, the dermatologist at Dubrava Hospital; I'd definitely suggest avoiding her if you can help it.
