Hey everyone, I’m really crossing my fingers that someone here actually knows what they're talking about regarding my question.
Does Oprah Winfrey (the ophthalmologist) have a private practice? I’ve scoured the internet, but I can't find anything... She’s the doctor who performed my surgery and she’s been there for me since day one, so I really don't want to see anyone else. I can't go back to Harvard anymore because I'm over 18 now... During my last checkup back in March, she told me to book something for January or February, but then I just get these automated emails saying I can't be seen there anymore.
Thanks in advance, really hoping someone has the scoop

Alright, listen up. I found out I can get doctors through here, so I need recommendations. Looking for a solid GP and a great OB-GYN near Yankee Stadium, Brooklyn, or somewhere along the main strip.

Thanks!

Well, over by the main road you've got General Motors😁 and at General Motors they have an OBGYN, Dr. Mohamed Bouazizi.🙂 He's the best gynecologist ever, but I'm not sure if he's taking new patients. Try calling and asking nurse Lydia.

odd dates - mornings
even dates - afternoons

phone number is: 555-0199

Hey everyone,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid gastroenterologist at one of the major hospitals in NYC? I’m looking for someone who actually takes the time to sit down and really dig into what's going on, rather than just rushing through the appointment.

Thanks!

I’m looking for some solid recommendations for a physical therapist who actually specializes in sports injuries—specifically leg issues stemming from running.

Ideally, I'd love to find someone located around Brooklyn, Capitol Hill, or near the Santa Monica Pier, though I'm not strictly tied to those areas if the right expert is elsewhere.

Thanks!

Hey there,

I'm looking for some solid recommendations on where I can get a high-quality private abdominal and pelvic ultrasound done. I really need to find a doctor who’s going to take their time and actually give me a thorough exam—honestly, the reason I'm looking to go through a hospital system is because I don't want some rushed doctor just asking me five questions and sending me on my way after five minutes.
I'm an oncology patient (dealing with gynecological cancer) and I've already gone through the ringer with radical surgery—everything was removed, including the surrounding tissue—plus radiation and chemo. Since this is my very first ultrasound following all that treatment, it would be huge if the doctor had specific experience in oncology...

Nancy Taylor42 said:Since I’ve dealt with keloids myself, I figured I’d share my experience.

The real kicker with keloids is that nobody—and I mean absolutely nobody—is going to give you any guarantees that they won't just grow right back after surgery. Not a single soul.

I’ve seen a whole bunch of surgeons, some through Medicare and others privately (I even saw this one high-end aesthetic plastic surgeon who is incredibly talented, despite being a total nightmare with his tax filings), but honestly, none of them could actually fix the issue for me.

I have this 15-20cm keloid scar on my left upper arm. And whenever I get even a slightly deep cut anywhere else on my body, a keloid pops up.

My advice? Just go see any surgeon whose main goal is to make sure you have full functionality in your finger. If you want specific expertise, I’d suggest checking out Apple just because their staff is top-tier.

Thanks!

Does anyone know of a highly skilled gastroenterologist who practices near Apple and also takes private insurance?

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with ulcerative colitis and acute gastritis. My colitis is actually in remission right now, and even when things flare up, I seem to bounce back pretty quickly (at least that's how it's been so far 😛). But man, my stomach has been giving me such a hard time lately. It really took a beating during a super stressful chapter of my life. Thankfully, that period is over, and I've started focusing on treatment. I’ve had two gastroscopies so far. The first one confirmed my diagnosis, and the second was because of intense pain and constant burping (which hit me hard during that stressful phase). During that second procedure, they actually found that my stomach lining had healed itself quite a bit. I think that happened because I was taking so many different medications prescribed to me, combined with the fact that I was struggling with anxiety and depression at the time. My gastroenterologist told me there isn't much else she can prescribe right now since my body reacted poorly to everything we tried, so she suggested Iberogast drops (though those haven't helped much either). I don't have the pain anymore, but this constant burping is driving me absolutely crazy 😁

Hey guys 😁 I feel like I've tried everything—homeopathic remedies, drops, tinctures, teas, various meds, royal jelly, liquid chlorophyll, vitamins, you name it... I generally eat very healthy, and I'm actually going to do a food intolerance test tomorrow. I try to stick to small meals, leave breaks between eating, and stay hydrated. Things are better than they used to be, but progress feels so slow. On average, I used to deal with over 50 bouts of burping a day, and now it’s down to maybe 30.

So, I'm looking for a gastroenterologist or a doctor, BUT someone who doesn't just rely on conservative medicine. I mean, I don't want to just swallow pills all day—I've already taken enough medication to last ten lifetimes! I'm looking for someone open to both traditional and natural/alternative approaches. Ideally, someone who understands both sides but can actually help fix my stomach issues. I know there might have been similar threads before, but I couldn't find anyone who fits exactly what I'm looking for (maybe I just missed it). I'm really hoping a kind soul out there can point me in the right direction 🙂

Any doctor worth their salt isn't going to give you a recommendation based on alternative medicine, simply because it’s "alternative" rather than being evidence-based. Besides, discussing alternative treatments isn't even permitted on this specific subforum; there's a dedicated section for alternative medicine for those topics (check Article 8 of the Health subforum rules).
As someone in the medical field myself, I can tell you that in all my years of practice, I haven't seen a single genuine benefit from alternative remedies. In my experience, it’s nothing more than a short-lived placebo effect.

Sorry if I used the word "alternative" a bit loosely there, but my question still stands—I'm looking for a truly high-quality gastroenterologist. 🙂Speaking from experience, I’ve tried several different medications that were recommended by doctors, and honestly, I haven't seen much improvement. So, should I really be letting those past experiences color my judgment? Just a rhetorical question, I guess. 🙂

Hey everyone! 🙂 Does anyone know if there's a doctor in the Suburban neighborhood area who actually has openings for new patients right now?

Can anyone recommend a decent gastroenterologist covered by Medicare? I’ve already seen one specialist who—honestly—completely botched my diagnosis. They even messed up the tests they ran at Saint Joseph; they barely took a sample. I’m ready to finally see someone who actually knows what they're doing and will get this right.

Does anyone happen to have any insight regarding the new general practitioner, Iva Bukvić, over at the Grižanska Health Center? I was also wondering if perhaps you might have a recommendation for a gynecologist within that same facility?

Can anyone living in San Francisco recommend a good pediatrician, dentist, GP, or gynecologist? I just moved here and would be so grateful if someone could point me toward some highly regarded doctors. I need to get these appointments scheduled as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!

I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me toward a reliable general practitioner in the Suburban neighborhood area. To be completely honest, I’ve become quite dissatisfied with my current doctor and I am seriously considering making a change, though I am feeling a bit hesitant because I really don't want to end up in an even worse situation. It feels like there is such a lack of genuine interest in my care; for instance, just trying to secure a simple appointment for a referral or a prescription requires me to call ten times before anyone actually picks up the phone. There is simply no willingness to help patients out, and he even went so far as to lecture me, suggesting I shouldn't be taking antidepressants and so on.
🙂

Hi there!

For over a week now, I’ve noticed this tiny little bump on my hip, and it gives me a bit of pain every once in a while. I honestly thought it would just go away on its own since it isn't red or inflamed—it's not even that obvious to look at—but I can definitely feel it when I touch it...

Since I'm not originally from Chicago and am just here for school, I was wondering which doctor I should reach out to. I tried looking up which student health clinic covers my university to see if they could take me in and prescribe medication if I actually need it...

Exactly.🙂 Just go to the doctor assigned to your university. They'll check you out and give you medicine. If they can't help, they'll give you a referral to see someone else.🙂
